My thoughts run more to it being due to it being the 1980s and 1990s and maybe an over-abundance of controlled substances that inspired the creation of handbag names like the infamous style 9167 "LEGACY TOP OF COUNTER COMPARTMENT BAG". How else could someone have come up with a name like that? :biggrin:

Omg, I’m revamping my handbag room and I forgot all about the fun book I bought from Coach in 2016, COACH A Story of New York Cool! I’m enjoying it even more now because of my vintage Coach collection. I started collecting vintage Coach nearly three years AFTER I bought this book. Now I can see and touch the real bags right here in my handbag room while I leaf through this book and see them on the pages as well.

Oh, I wish I can get my hand on the book, too! It seems that there are no new copies out there (other than ones that says over $1K).

@Paris Girl , is it more about history or does it include all the historical, iconic Coach bags, too?

@aqua1117 Yes, I would love to buy one for a friend and nothing is available at a reasonable price.

The book takes you thru history with lots of photos of the bags and historic scenes of NY and events. Here’s some shots of book pages.

Thank you so much for the pictures! I see parts of my bag in one of them. That last picture, why did they cover up the bag?

@shrnirons It needs to be reorganized. Overflowing with bags but I seem to “need” more. Lol! I’m getting small cabinet and some hooks to hang bags from and I’m installing some floating ledge shelves in my seating area. Plus I’m going thru and pulling bags to give away.
My collection is a blend of newer and vintage Coach, a UK brand Mulberry, and a few bags by other designers like Tory Burch.
My room is laid out with one wall of shelving, a seating area, and two areas for wallets, smaller hanging bags, and wallets. The bags in these shelves have smaller bags inside I pair with them.
Here’s some photos from last year.

I happened to go into a Coach store this past late summer or early fall and was chatting vintage Coach with the two SA's. One of them had just purchased the book and had it in the store. She went online and checked to see if it was still available, but it was sold out by that time. She graciously allowed me to look through it! I had forgotten about it. I am glad you brought it up to remind me to look for a copy second hand.
