So I recently picked this up on eBay. I was struck by the spectator styling on a NYC bag. I did not include the creed, but is stamped made in NYC with registration number. The hardware looked super shiny in the listing, but I just chalked it up to possibly a zealous rehab. And thought, great, less for me to do

Am I right? So it delivers and it's just so odd, given the age, the wear, that the hardware does not look original. It doesn't look old. I have lots of NYC's to compare to. The hang tag was new, but I initially dismissed it as a later add on.
Then,

when I started looking at the hang tag. It is double sided, with a noticeable app of edgecoat around it, like I have on a bag from the mid '00's. Then I remembered reading about people being able to send bags back to
Coach for repairs like zippers, new piping etc. My best guess is that this bag was sent back to Coach for a new zipper, piping, side tabs with hardware and a new strap. All of the work is expertly stitched, just like in an original. Inside the bag, I can see a faint line of what might have been verdigris rubbing off from the old zipper.
