Got the varsity strap in dark saddle for my BT ramblers legacy and tabac classic hobo. Thank goodness it fits the buckles on both bags! Tight squeeze to get it in but it worked. Classic hobo still in final stages of rehab but here’s the ramblers legacy. The strap came with a dust bag, too. Bonus! Hehe!

I’m tempted to get this for my saddle pony but I’m not sure about the color match.. I tried my patricia strap in it today and it was the perfect length but the color did not match at all. Did they ever make a saddle colored bag with a longer strap? Also your tabac and BT almost match while mine are completely different, that goes to show how much the dye batches varied.

It looks great! You can fit the buckle prong through the holes on the strap? I thought this was the strap that needed the eyelets switched out.

Here are some photos. When I saw the seller’s pics, it was only the outside. Then I got home and saw inside and the lack of front pocket was a giveaway. Then I saw the creed and it was full on fake  should have asked for more pics!View attachment 5010675View attachment 5010676View attachment 5010677

There's also no padding at all at the top of the leather turnlock tab which is a major red flag (most of the time the counterfeiters just get the shape of the padding wrong, this one didn't even bother trying), and at least 2 indicators that the strap wasn't made by Coach. We wouldn't even have needed to see a creed to spot that one. The shape of the turnlock is also "off", and the top handle doesn't taper at the ends.

I can honestly say that dunking a 1941 bag or a Coach NY vs. a true vintage bag is not at all similar. I dunked a camera bag and the hardware tarnished in the vinegar soap bath. The 1941 saddle 23 was better but even with reshaping while drying, it still had a subtle squish at the bottom after it dried. Can’t imagine dunking a Rogue with the twill and suede lining. It’s just too complicated and delicate.
Thanks for sharing this info. I had been super curious about dunking a more recent issue!
I was (erroneously) thinking initially it was just thinner leather, like the vintage lightweights, therefore it could be dunked. Whateve and other info shared helped me to understand dunking is best for full grain leather, aka, cowhide, the entire hide, not just a layer, even if it is the top layer. When we dunk the vintage full grain leather, surface dirt is removed and it is the layer below the top surface that gets hydrated and improves the texture, shape of the leather.

I was bad in a jewelry way instead of a purse way today and bought the pieces to finally make my long tahitian strand. There is a online seller who used to get great deals on finished piece, but they keep dropping me off their email list and they aren’t much of a deal, so I gave up on buying one done. However, in addition to being a bag rehabber, I can also knot pearls if I use this special thread so I bought the pearls and the clasp At less than a quarter of the price the site would have charged and half what Etsy sellers are charging for a finished necklace. Already have the thread and needles. Once they arrive, it’s stringing time!
p.s. this is because I have forgotten the nightmare of stringing my long gold and white strand after a couple years Lol

Yes, always get lots of photos. That doesn’t guarantee anything but certainly helps. I once got a bag that looked authentic in photos (creed even looked good) but when I got it I thought it might be a fake. Some things just seemed off. I compared the hardware and zipper pull on an authentic bag in same style (I owned 4 colors in the same style) and it became very obvious. And the leather wasn’t quite as nice. The bag was a very good copy! Yours looks good too except for the missing pocket.

It could be that my tabac strap has just been conditioned...but most likely the dye batches are inconsistent. I think the straps are okay even if they don’t completely match as long as it’s not far off. Kinda like ombré effect

Why didn't you return it? You shouldn't have to pay for a fake. It's illegal to sell them.
It was a local seller. I didn’t wanna bother going back and confronting the old lady due to covid plus I think she really thought it was authentic.

I’m a total Coach newb. I got no excuses! Lol

I thought so too when I searched and saw @houseof999 ’s experience. Maybe the rambler and classic hobo’s prong are slightly smaller? I had to get a pair of scissors though to move the prong in, to push it in place so it aligned with the eyelet.

Live and learn. That’s why after this fake Willis, I asked for more photos from sellers. Doesn’t matter if they take long to reply back. I mean if I miss out on an auction, it’s really not the end of the world. if any, my wallet will be happier!
