If I want a bag I just have to wear the costs of shipping to NZ...can range between NZ$40 to $100 just to NZ with out adding the tax.
So sometimes I get a bag really cheap but the cost to get it here is sometimes 2 to 3 times the cost of the bag so I have to weight it up constantly.
Im watching a few bals and the shipping on some of them is enormous...NZ$115 to $175 was the largest I had seen.
Then the tax goes on and the exchange rate....dont get me started.
Is it better for you to buy from Japan? There are a lot of Bals listed with Japanese sellers and their prices are usually lower than US sellers, although the condition isn't always the best and the pictures aren't very good.

got my first from a Japanese seller and tried to look at some of the others but the photos needed for authentication are never there and a few of the sellers say they cant get more because item is in storage somewhere else.
I wont buy without authentication as I dont want the expense of having to ship back.

I've asked for authentication on Japanese bags even when they didn't have all pictures and the authenticators told me the Japanese sellers usually could be trusted to have authentic bags. If some of the pictures are there, they might be able to give you an opinion as to whether you should take a chance. If it turns out to be fake, the seller should have to bear the cost of shipping. I think two of my Bals and two BVs were from Japanese sellers.

My collection fluctuates a lot... I'll:yes: never come close to @houseof999 !
Who can compete?
I think all my non US peeps can agree that our bid ceiling is also limited due to the currency conversion and shipping+duties (I hate how ebay pre calculates them- like why can’t you just let my package take the gamble with customs lmao) I can’t complain too much though because Ive gotten some pretty great deals as well! I scored my convertible clutch for $18 cause the seller had spelling mistakes in the listing title so no one really saw the listing haha. I hope I win this auction, I need it after losing all my other auctions!

eta: also did you win the mahogany flap for 99 cents or you won the auction by 99 cents? Either way, good job! I need your auction luck haha
Won it for $ .99:yes: It was the starting bid, I waited for the end, and was the only bidder. Shipping was $11, if IIRC.

I know you mean. I have read those things too. The comments are out there (serious nut job level stuff) in public, in one group. I'm not interested in that vibe either. Yes, they lurk. Hi lurkers! And interestingly someone has popped back over here.

I had no idea the FB group didn't like the tpf. I found one of my vintage bags recently and fell in love all over again. I'm about to purge all my recent purchases and beef-up my Coach collection. I'm trying to lean more minimalist and something about the classic and steady quality of the vintage appeals to me. I've never been good at rehabbing - but wanting to give it a go. I'm over fast fashion and the quality you get at these price-points is unreal. I hope you don't tire of me, but I love to glean info from all of you!

Same! After getting my first vintage coach bag, I knew I wanted more but I also didn’t want to be swimming in bags so I sold a lot of my regular bag collection. I don’t think Ill ever buy another bag from a retail store unless its a Chanel as thats been on my wishlist for ages- a girl can dream haha

There are several Coach FB groups. I have only read posts for two of them. Only one of them has a mod who specifically posted he would rather not have members of tPF join. I am sure if you bring up tPF you’ll find out if that is the group!

It’s been about 2 weeks since I got my last fix, er I mean, new-to-me vintage coach bag. There are two that are supposed to be arriving this week, but waiting for them has been pretty painful time of twiddling my thumbs and refreshing the tracking page to see where it is at. I’m also worried that I made bad purchases, always in the back of my mind until I open the packages to inspect. Pity me in my painful first world suffering!! haha. BUT YOU KNOW YOU UNDERSTAND ME
