Legally, I don't think there's anything you can do unless you were to sue guadis26 in Small Claims court.

However, @CPSE - I would think you can contact Poshmark and let them know what happened. Show them the listing you bought and the item that guadis26. Include the screenshots that @houseof999 posted showing the same stains.

Although I've never been impressed by the actions of Poshmark, there's a possibility that you might encourage them to do the right thing and at the very least, sanction the account of the thief.

It also wouldn't hurt to post on PM's facebook page!

I will try contacting Poshmark about what happened. Mercari hasn’t responded to me either... not really thinking either will do anything but I will try.

Edit: ugh, I’ve run into a problem. Mercari no longer has the listing active so I can’t show the listing to Poshmark. I’ll have to wait to hear back from Mercari before talking to Poshmark.

About a year ago I was on a pearl kick and was sure I would luck into an antique natural strand like others on a pearl site I posted on. Ordered a strand off Etsy that was most likely not natural, but the hope was there. I received a teapot charm due to the seller’s error and the other buyer kept my strand. Returned the charm, got my money back, but the other buyer gave a whole and dance about how it was impossible for her to afix a return label and put it in her mailbox to send back.
I’m not surprised... ugh!

Is this a Basic Bag? If so, I wonder why they changed the name? Can’t wait to see what it will be priced at.

ETA: I added the photo because neither link that I copied from my browser is taking me to the listing.

A lot of the very early Coach styles have had name changes at least once over the years. This 9455 was called a Zippered Clutch until around 1980 or 1981 when its name was changed to Basic bag.

The actual listing comes up for me with no problem but I had to use Opera to do it.

The page lists the style number as 5394, but I don't know if that's an original 1970s Coach number (I doubt it) or if they're creating new numbers for those restored bags. The page says:

Restored Small Slim Clutch
N/AN/A
Brass/Tan

This classic Small Slim Clutch is part of The Coach Originals, a collection of vintage and archival-inspired bags that celebrates our legacy and authentic New York heritage. A beloved Coach silhouette introduced in 1975, this vintage glovetanned leather bag has been expertly cleaned, conditioned and lovingly restored–because icons never go out of style.

This item is not available for purchase by phone. Limit 1 bag per customer.
  • Zip-top closure, leather lining
  • Detachable strap with 20" drop for shoulder or crossbody wear
  • 11" (L) x 7" (H) x 1 3/4" (W)
  • The Coach Originals
  • Style No. 5394

The small foldout 1976 "catalog" doesn't show any style numbers that began with a 5, all of them start with 8 or 9 and this style is clearly shown as a 9455 Zippered Clutch.

If Coach is inventing new names and / or numbers for these restored bags it seems to me like a stupid thing to do. They should at least use the name(s) that Coach gave to it when it was in production!

A couple of the restored bags kept their original names, but not their price tags!

They did assign new style numbers to the restored bags. My SA had a restored bag returned to his store so I asked if there was anything special inside that differentiates it from other vintage Coach. He said no and sent me a Creed photo. There was no extra hang tag with any special information or anything. I believe @valv54 had seen some of restored bags and they didn't have any special creed or anything that could differentiate these from any other Coach bags.

Can you access it from the “buying” “completed” tabs? It should still be in your personal account. :)

Thanks Hyacinth and all. I wonder if this one is truly the Zippered Clutch or a Basic. Can you tell from the photos, without seeing inside?

They are both the same thing. Coach just changed the name. If the creed states made in the New York City, it could be either. If the creed doesn't state made in New York City, then it would have been called a basic bag at the time it was made.

Thanks, whateve. I thought maybe the size or details varied ever so slightly. I have two that y’all authenticated here. One has a creed with Made in U.S.A. and an eight-digit number with no dash below it. I guess that one is a Basic Bag. The other one has Made in New York City with a glued-in serial number. I guess that one could be either. The details and size of each are pretty dang close. This is the only difference (photo). The bag on the left is the NYC one.image.jpg

The thing I notice is the little tabs that hold the d-ring are shaped differently.
