I try to avoid VC but I'm tempted from time to time.

Isn't there the option to have it authenticated by person? And then have it sent you?
Do the items pass this test or would you avoid VC in general?
I had things authenticated as a seller as well as a buyer (for luxury brands : H bag and scarves, Gucci bag, Ferragamo shoes, Tod’s)
I never had an authentication problem, but be rather careful concerning the item’s condition.
I had a few bad surprises with less good condition than pictured.
The customer service was either helpful or not, it depends.
To prevent problems, I always use PayPal.

Anyone else having issues with Vestiaire issuing incorrect shipping labels for sales? It’s constantly happening for me to certain countries they issue a label that won’t scan or be accepted by the carriers system. Then it’s a lot of back and forth trying to get a usable label. It’s so frustrating and time consuming

I think it also depends where the item is authenticated (and by whom…). I bought a YSL Niki located in uk and it was sent from Vestaire’s quarters in UK. The person who authenticated the bag was very careful and as the seller labelled the bag “beige” and she thought it was more brown, I was send a photo of the item near a Pantone colour chart in order to be sure I was satisfied with the colour of the item! I appreciated it a lot. Have been disappointed with Vestiaire many times but this one I was pleasantly surprised.

Hello everyone,

Going through this thread was very useful. I sold a ring unsigned through Vestiaire two weeks ago. Cutomer has requested a physical authentication so I posted it the very next day after the sale was confirmed. and it has delivered to VC near Gatwick. It’s been a good 10 working days and the ring hasn’t still passed the authentication. On the time line that mentioned it takes 2 working days now it’s almost 10 working days since they have received the ring. When I inquire why the delay they don’t have any response. They say the gemologist has to check. I myself a jeweller and I know a ring definitely dosen’t need a good 10 working day to get authenticated. The metal is hall marked and the ring is in brand new condition. VC cannot simply answer my question about whether the ring is authenticated ? If not why is it taking so long? The reply I always get is they have contacted the relevant department and they haven’t got back. It’s a bloody joke tbh. I am really fed up with VC now. They are holding the payment. It has taken excessively long without a proper reasoning. Has anyone experienced issues with authentication taking so long ? And what can I do about it? Do you guys think it’s any good visiting their office in London? Thanks

I have never sold any unsigned jewelry before, but sometimes I have had success going to the chat function and talking to a customer service representative. It doesn’t always resolve things satisfactory, but at least they can be a go-between and find out for me exactly what information is needed and then I can provide documentation or photos inside the chat, which they then send on to the authenticators. You could give that a try.

Thnx Nicole for the quick response. The problem I have is they are not telling me anything. The person in the chat always come back saying she is waiting for the authentication department to get back to her. I mean you can’t take 9 working days and not communicate.
The ring in-fact is a peridot and diamond in 18k white gold. The metal is hall marked. I mean how long an expert can take to authenticate the peridot and the diamond. Oh come on!!.
I understand if they need any additional documentation/details etc. but they haven’t requested any as such via email or in chat. I am in the middle of nowhere. I fear whether they have damaged the ring. It is fine to take the time but as the seller we should know why they are taking extra long. I am very frustrated and puzzled

FYI I v been chatting with VC for the past 2 weeks pretty much everyday. Once they said it will be done latest last Tuesday but it never did. Whn I inquired the response was that they are waiting for the feed back from authentication dpt.

I’m sorry that I don’t really have any advice, but I have my fingers crossed that it will work out for you.

In my experience it varies greatly speaking with them via chat. During weekdays around 9am I have had the best result other times they need to wait for someone more senior and all they can do is pass on your query. This can result in long delays. I would guess the people you are speaking to have no access to the authentication dept and have to wait for them to respond. Obviously it’s a long delay mine have often taken more than the 2 days but I think around 5 or 6 was the longest. Have they reached out to you at all during this time? Or said they will pass it on to the dept who deals with it? With an issue I had recently it took 6 days for someone who could deal with it to get back to me then it was sorted within minutes.

VC is threatening not to pay any future sales without tax info but first I am not in EU and second my sales are no where near the threshhold plus I dont trust some Parison comp with my tax info so I am not providing it. They can close my acct and I will stick with other platforms but I dont think they can put a sale through, take their commission and not pay me! Its theft. Thoughts.

They have a branch in NY, I think that is why you need to pay taxes on sales. Don’t all selling platforms in the USA require tax info now either to sell or to withdraw funds after a sale?

Anyone knows if VC will allow you to put in the your item description that you don't do direct shipping? I know VC's authentication service sucks and they often reject authentic items as fake, but yet, it seems the lesser of 2 evils, because I am very wary of scammers if I go the direct shipping route.

Hi no sadly it’s not an option if the buyer chooses direct shipping the label they send you will be direct to the buyer. There is no way to avoid it.
