@HizzyDeights
still...

What do you mean by "robbed off"?
You are very angry, what is understandable, but it is not clear what happened.
Perhaps you can describe it concretely?

VC is problematic in some aspects, but their business idea is not based on scamming.

Perhaps you could cool down everything a little bit and try to explain what happened without cryptic hints and without insinuations people here might be VC employees.

The hassle wasn’t worth it IMO. From what I’ve read, you’d have to chase them to get the bag returned. The only means of communication is the chat function and members have been sharing online how excruciating it is to get hold of a cust serv rep to update the progress of returning the bag. If you try and follow-up with an email, they would remind you to wait patiently as they are still “processing” the return. Basically they’re trying to wear you down. Go to Sitejabber and Trustpilot and read some of the feedbacks. Incentive? I didn’t get what you mean.
Incentive, I meant they paid you full or partially for what you sold it for, or give you credit to shop on their site. So you just told them to keep it from what you are saying.

Like @Sferics and others said, people just try to understand. P.S I have not bought and sold on VC to this date (nor I'm employee of VC), I also try to understand the VC site and problems sellers and buyers may facing.

as a seller and buyer on other sites, I would suggest you contact VC try to get issue solved and reinstall your account.

No, I didn’t get any incentives for it. I just donated the bag for free. I’m a fervent believer of karma so let the universe deal with it.

Anyway, VC had replied regarding my CELINE jumper and they have sought their “experts” to verify the authenticity of my item. I told them to approach the Celine brand house since VC’s HQ is in Paris and they will get their answer there. I also realised that gold thread capital lettered CELINE especially in black label is so much sought after in Japan because of its rarity and of high quality tailoring. In fact, you can’t find any for sale anywhere online at the moment most probably because people are keeping it in their vault to sell for higher price in the future. It’s so bloody rare, mine was the only one listed and sold in VC.

And their expert “authenticators” can’t even tell an orange for an apple.

Vintage French label fashion aficionados especially of the CELINE brand would know what I am talking about.

To be honest, anything vintage (40 years or more) haute couture made in Japan is much sought after in the fashion world. It’s because of the quality of production and sometimes of their design. I don’t have to mention the design actually unless it’s a Japanese designer such as Issey Miyake or Yohji Yamamoto. Imagine cutting edge design meets high quality tailoring. That’s those two names are known for. Not that other Japanese designers are as cultish, just that those two have made a name for themselves in the fashion world. I got items from the 80’s from those two designers brand new with tags intact kept in a vault for more than 40 years. I presented one in VC as a teaser.

Imagine having the foresight of what the world will desire to own and wear from the past in the present or better still, find a spirit that will “apport” anything you wish from the past…for a price 😉

I’m happy to give them my tax number but I haven’t made income on those items - they were privately own items sold at a loss so does anyone know how these items are reported to tax office (not US one)?
Sorry, I only know about USA taxes. It can be found online for the USA, so I wonder if it can be found online for your country.

I had an item I shipped through direct shipping via UPS returned back to me, and was invoiced by UPS for the return costs. I should think that these costs fall under the responsibilities of Vestiaire collective to cover, but they are refusing to pay for these costs. Has anyone else had similar experiences?

This makes me angry, and hesitant to sell any items through vestiaire. If the buyer has second thoughts and will refuse delivery, you just end up eating the costs.

Why did the item come back?

The purchaser never accepted the delivery. The UPS people did not get access to the building, and tried contacting the buyer multiple times for it. Eventually they routed the package back to me, and now I have to pay for the delivery.
Oh, wow :(
I'm only a buyer so far, and I don't know how they manage the delivery costs in general, but that seems not okay to me.

Yes. I am currently in a similar affair with Fedex and Ebay regarding a package I formally refused and I am pretty sure the seller pays for return shipping. Actually I know as Fedex told me so; they simply charged their account.
In my case though, the seller was at fault, and clearly so.

Basically they authenticated my sweater before being listed and sold but later revoked it once the item reached their HK “authentication hub”. And also at the same time “reviewed” my Acc and finally deactivated it. Imagine selling something genuine and then once the item reached them, they deemed it fake and request €15 for it to be returned. The audacity.

Could this be based on the counterfeit laws, saying that if an item is fake (or deemed fake), people (customs, authenticators etc.) are allowed to just destroy it? This creates a mentality wherein once an item has been deemed or perceived as fake, it gets looked down on and people just mistreat it. Of course, if it turns out it was a mistake, then... oops!
Which is why I hate those laws; they give too much authority to authenticators who might not always be as competent or knowledgeable as they believe themselves...

Did you try to contact VC about this?
Yes I did, they are flat out refusing payment and saying that it is my cost to cover. They take massive buyer and seller fees to cover the shipping (among other things), and I do believe they have some sort of agreement with UPS concerning the shipping, so this is straight out hostile towards the sellers in my opinion.

There was nothing wrong with the item that I sent forward, the buyer just came to other thought. Probably found another way to spend their cash, so now here I am out of pocket for trusting Vestiaire collective.
