Do you have original photos of the item? Could you send these pictures to VC customer service as evidence? I would send them all evidence you have to support it was sold as as described.
Other photos instead of the ones I included in the listing? No.. don’t have anything but the ones I took for the listing. Just never thought there could be a problem with a brand new item. 🙁

If was shoes, probably didn’t fit, european size also different to US size and tricky to list
But even if it doesn’t fit, I don’t think you’re allowed to return them? The buyer had asked me before buying about sizing for the shoes and asked if she could return it if it didn’t fit and I told her no, you’re not allowed to return just because it doesn’t fit. And she said she understood and thinks it will fit and bought it.

If that she may open case as the shoes are not authentic, get your receipt to send to VC

For shoes you can take sewing measuring tape and measure the shoes from the inside. The buyer can measure their feet to get and idea of the fit.

Hi purseforum - any help or opinions are appreciated here.

I am looking to make a purchase from VC from a Swiss seller and it will be coming to me to the US. So, I am no stranger to shopping here and paying the vat taxes/customs duties/fees. However, I am seeing the rates all over the place. According to my research it should only be about 7.7% - for the item I wanted VC calculated over 60% and added that to the price!! Another item I added to cart as a test came out around 40%.

I find this suspicious and alarming. So sadly, I am not making the purchase. I contacted VC and they said "I coordinated the issue with our Customs team, and I am so sorry to inform you that according to them, the customs duties are correct because the seller is from Switzerland."

- why the inconsistencies in rates?
- why would the rates be so ridiculously high?

Thanks for any knowledge you can share!

This happened to me too when I wanted to buy what appeared to be an "affordable" secondhand jacket from a Swiss seller. I am in Australia. By the time the taxes and import/customs duties were added on, these added more than 50% to the original cost of the item! Usually for Australia it's 10% GST if the item is under AUD $900. So, I didn't buy. Switzerland is not in the EU and doesn't have an FTA with Australia so I assume that's why the taxes/duties are nothing short of ridiculous?

Anyway after my first two purchases with VC were positive this year, my last three purchases have been negative. Literally within a week, two sellers (located in Korea and Germany) cancelled my orders and relisted for higher prices.

Then the third seller, after proactively sending me a message saying she'd ship ASAP, went AWOL and about 10 days passed without contact, then VC messaged me saying my order would be cancelled and refunded too. Only positive was I saved my money but missed out on what looked like great purchases.

So yeah VC is definitely 50-50 hit and miss. I also wouldn't trust it for anything considered "luxury designer" - the chance of getting a fake is too high.

What if we don’t provide tax information and delete account on Vestiaire?
I have no idea, you can give it a try.

It is still legally required to declare this income on your taxes. Honestly, I don’t think it will make a difference at all if you just sell a few things.

If you don’t want to provide Vestiaire with this info for the sake of privacy and security, that is perfectly valid and a lot of people have opted out of selling on other platforms for this reason.
