I am (both as a casual buyer and seller) shocked. They take 18% from the seller and now another 5% from the buyer. The value they provide you will be exactly the same, except you have to pay up as a buyer, or provide even better value as a seller. And don't get me started about customer service. In the mid-season sale, my items were completely mispriced, discounted way too low, or not included at all, or included only in later days. When trying to talk to customer service, the person simply didn't comprehend what my issue was and gave me wrong advice. When I asked to talk to someone else, she said not possible, as she is still here. And I need to wait 48hrs for this request to close, and to be able to open a new one. I blew a fuse. Had to unlist several items.
Problem is, in Europe they are the biggest, and the others are smaller and more expensive. Trying Vinted, but they are not a luxe platform.
Whenever there is a problem, cs acts like you wrote. Every time. They're totally useless.
I'm angry, because despite said insufferableness, it was my Nr. 1 source.

I wanted to share my recent experience with VC. I bought an Hermès Picotin 18 from Vestiaire, paid for authentication and the bag is claimed as authentic.

Once I’ve received the bag, the dustbag seems to be off and I decided to send to bababebi and the result came that the bag is counterfeit!

Now I’m in contact again with Vestiare and they agree to do second authentication. But if they found the bag to be real after the second check, they told me that I will need to relist the bag & pay the fee to them as well.

So frustrated. Anybody has the same experience here?
Who was the seller you bought from? Any chance it was https://www.vestiairecollective.com...leather-picotin-hermes-handbag-33032178.shtml

Obviously it's not even clear how much they will charge the buyer. In the email they mention 5% plus 10% for international transactions (and they are mostly international). But if you refer to their written terms, they say 10% instead of 5% plus the additional 10%. Not very professional.

I am a more or less frequent buyer. I only had to deal with CS once, and have to say, they replied quickly, very friendly and to my satisfaction. Got fully reimbursed the same day, while the seller was downgraded.

With these new buyer service fees it won’t really be worth it anymore for me as a casual seller to sell on Vestiaire.

I’m already pricing my items lower than average because my buyers are all international and have to add taxes and apparently a very high shipping fee to the sale price.

Their fees are already quite high and often forcing sellers to list their item at lower prices.

Really disappointed.

I believe it’s up to 15% for international orders. When I asked in the chat why does the % vary? They just asked me to look the detail @ check-out. On the plus side, they’re reducing international sellers fee to 12% from 15%. Still doesn’t justify why such exorbitant fee for digital authentication, guarantee of shipment and CS support. This would probably spell the end for VC’s international market. Too many “bourgeois” bosses I guess. Bye VC, it was a great run but we can live without you.

Agree with the above. What is the best competitor to switch for a seller?

Tbh, VC is kind of in its own market. A niche. All other existing ones such as the ol’ Ebay, Poshmark, Etsy, Grailed, DePop and countless others uses PayPal’s dispute resolution system if things go south with your purchase. If in 2023 there’s still folks who still unbox without taking a video then there’s bound to be hiccups dealing with direct shipment. You would hv thought by having an “authentication process” physically would cancel any chances of getting ripped but it seems VC has its fair share of problems offering such service. A paid service that is. Therefore, I’m afraid we all need to resort to the old ways of dealing with buyers by being extra diligent when receiving our packages. I’m an international seller and the only reason I created a stream with VC was because of the 18% commission which also includes shipping fee with a reputable courier (DHL) to all destination worldwide. If VC choose to screw the harmony by introducing an absurd “buyers fee” then I’m afraid they’re digging their own grave.

Was the bag sent to Hong Kong for authentication by any chance? IMHO, the stitching looks sus AF. I mean, even someone with a 10/20 vision can tell the poor workmanship on the thread. No way that passed authentication unless it was from their HK hub. This should be posted far and wide online to deter others from falling prey to their claimed “expert authentication service”. Appalling is an understatement for such a rubbish company.

Unfortunately, they will not bow down to admitting their mistake(?) and proceed with a refund because the seller has already been paid. Btw, they’re just stalling you and I can guarantee 100% you won’t get your money back and will have to resort to re-selling the bag with them. Disgusting

Are there issues with their Hong Kong hub?

It seems they’re having some issues or trouble in Asia?

They opened a hub here in Seoul earlier this year for example but suddenly out of the blue my sold items were going to the Hong Kong hub again and when I asked they said they closed the Seoul hub. They just fired everyone.

I have had the worst customer experience with Vestiaire recently, from orders being cancelled to reneging on promised discount codes. I had messaged the customer service this weekend as I had had two orders cancelled the same day. I queried this and in the same process I also said that I found it bad practice that they had issued me with a discount code for 10% off my next purchase, maximum discount being €500. Very clear wording. This was in lieu of making a return and having some repairs made myself on a bag bought. When I tried to use the code it was for a paltry €50 discount. They refused to change even after I sent in pictorial evidence of the agreement.
I also commented that the new “buyers premium” of 5-15% added on to each bag since last week was quite prohibitive. The representative was not in anyway polite when I said this and said “Some buyer with enough money they don’t care about the additional fees as long as they want the item.”
I found this so insulting and derogatory. Their customer service has always been suspect but to outright call a good, regular customer poor in their eyes is ridiculous and in such bad taste. Anyone from Vestiaire here reading this, shame on you! Everyone else, stay far away from the unethical beast that is Vestiaire unless you want to be treated like crap!!

hiya I am new to VC and selling my first item. I am in the UK and have arranged a pick up with DHL. Their email is asking me not to seal the shipping box for the courier to inspect the content. Is that your experience too? Will I receive an email confirming the pick up? Sorry for all these questions. Thanks a lot
