Hello, I know the opinion of online resale site Vestiaire Collective is varied. I have bought and sold many without incident. However i was unaware that you do not have to highlight in the written section/description any damage or defect IF a photo of it is amongst the photos. Maybe im wrong but I always thought you had to highlight damage or defects in the description. Basically on a Maple i bought the hanging pouch was missing a rivet. It’s on the underside so not obvious. Tbh, I didnt even notice it despite the photo, my daughter pointed it out, thick..yes. Anyway, I’m content with the bag and I could be wrong. I was just a bit shocked that it was acceptable practice at VC and wanted to highlight as they confirmed it is in their terms.

I sell on Vestiaire and always mentioned it in the description as well as show the defect in the photos. Of late Vestiaire have become impossible to deal with. They are letting very obvious defects slip through quality and control. I have bought and sold hundreds of items on the platform without any major issues but in the last 2 months I have had to make two claims against them on PayPal.

I couldn’t believe what they were saying.

It is very disheartening. I used to love Vestiaire Collective but now its nothing but problem after problem
I agree. Im not on some sort of mission but they were absolutely adamant the damage was ‘in the photos’ so the seller was within their guidance. I just felt people should know and be wary. I kept saying ‘I dont know this bag style so how could I spot the defect’? No explanation. ‍♀️

I recently bought a bag from VC and regret it. I purchased from an expert seller (unsure if that is the same as a professional seller on their return policy?) and had questions about its authenticity. The person I bought it from stated that I can get a full refund if I don't like the item as they are a professional seller, so I assumed expert = professional.

Comparing the bags, unfortunately, I noticed a difference after purchasing the bag and even it went through the authentication process with zero issues. I ordered a YSL Envelope bag and was naive and didn't do enough research beforehand (I admit it's my fault for that) but the seller seemed reputable as they had over 460 sales on VC. The bag I got had a very very very large YSL logo, and it even goes over the flap, unlike what is shown on YSL.com or other reputable websites like Saks or Nordstrom. After I noticed that, I saw that a few of the details were off-center as well which you couldn't see in the images posted on VC.

I returned the item the next day, easily within their 14-day period - it only has to travel from Belgium to France so the delivery is quick as well.... but VC states they find no issues with my bag (logo is fine / off-center items are fine) and that my item will now be relisted on my account, minus their usual commission and they will sell it for me - and I would then get my percentage of the refund... IF someone buys it. I don't even know what their usual commission is, so this seems ridiculous. I even made an infographic comparing the bag from their website to verified Envelope bags online and it did not seem to matter. When I asked them for clarification on their return policy, I did not get a response despite it being within the 14-day period.

I am highly disappointed and find their customer support lacking - their FAQ and return policies are unclear. I feel pretty dumb about the whole thing and definitely learned a lesson. Time to grovel and be bitter for the upcoming years lol. I just plan on buying the official bag from a boutique or reputable retailer in the future now.

Hi I actually had the same issue with VC
I returned my item to them and they insisted my item was original
And they also relisted my item straight away . I tried to contact them unfortunately no reply from vc
What if the bag doesn’t sell on Vc will they return me back my item ?
Mind to share with me I’m new in this platform
Thanks
They are an absolute nightmare to deal with. If they deem it to be authentic or, in other cases, as described by seller at the first inspection they will not reverse their decision even in the face of obvious oversight on their part. This was not the case a few months ago. In the past I have received items that VC evaluated as authentic but that turned out to be counterfeit and once the evidence was presented to them they refunded me. Nowadays they refuse to acknowledge that their quality control team are amateurs and often get things wrong. They will not refund you even if there is an obvious oversight on their part. You need to open a case with PayPal or your credit card company.

There is a Hermes bag that I want to purchase on Vestiaire. The seller is in the United States. He has one other item for sale and has no sold items. I just saw the same item listed on Joli Closet. The sellers name is a female. Joli sellers are all located in Europe ?

I’m thinking they aren’t the same person ? One of these people is using the others picture ? Doesn’t make sense because the item gets shipped for authentication on both websites.

To be honest I am not so worried about the sellers (you will get scam artists on all selling platforms), its the Vestiaire authentication team and their lack of training that worries me. Vestiaire used to be great at rectifying issues but not anymore. Look at the lady dior i recently purchased. Complete loss of structure. Not able to stand upright. No mention in description and the Vestiaire team failed to identify this as an issue

Hello there. Can I ask what the outcome of this PayPal claim was? The condition of this lady Dior is shocking!

I’m experiencing a similar situation with Vestiaire recently (PayPal claim in progress).

Ordered a mulberry bag that was stated as “immaculate” condition in description but came with handles floppy and leather damage on the front. VC agreed to have it sent back for a 2nd review but apparently it matches the description. So frustrating!

I’ve made 7 other purchases in the past few months with no issues. Once this is resolved - I’m done with VC!
