What is the difference between the retailer and the brand ? Is there a difference in gucci stores? Is it better to order from their website
I know I am not an authenticator here, and while you wait for @whateve to reply to you I thought I would add my .02.
You can be pretty assured you are buying authentic from the stores and the brands' website direct.

A retailer is someone like Neimans who sells Valentino but is not the Valentino store. Back in the day I have heard horror stories where buyers would buy chanel or balenciaga from Neimans then return the fake version of the bag to the Neimans, so they get the real bag and their money back. I have no idea how often this happens anymore, or if it all. But, when I buy from a retailer I ALWAYS ask if they have a new bag in the back to sell and then if they do buy the brand new, unopened, bag.

Resale sites are riskier, and I have purchased 2 past season gucci bags from one online resale site because I felt assured by the pics that they were authentic. There are people who can help you authenticate off these sites.
Buying from Gucci.com is safe, and you should not worry about this. Again, could be some super swapper out there, but they have a return policy and if you felt unsure you could return.

hope this helps
Good advice thanks!

Yes! There was loukpeach, who bought designer bags from Neimans and TJ Maxx, then returned fakes. People who work in department stores are most likely not very familiar with the products so it was easy to fool them. She was TJ Maxx's biggest customer. They had no idea they were being scammed. Who knows how many of their customers ended up with loukpeach's fakes.

Wow, I remember the user name, but must have been taking time off forums when it was discovered!
I forget that there’s TJ”s that sell high end bags, I’d never trust that “deal”, lol

Because at the store you can look at the bag and make sure there aren't any flaws before you bring it home.

I have a bag I’m trying to sell - the experience has been difficult with VC. I felt like I was throwing darts trying to figure out how to find the “right” photos they wanted with their limited number of options you could upload. Then I finally got it listed, and I have tons of “likes” but no one purchased - which is fine. Now I have an offer, which I accepted, and she’s NOW asking questions about the bag while the time for paying is ticking down. Is this allowed? I’m so over these sites and that a sale just isn’t a sale any more. The only thing TRR has going for all their drama to authenticate, list, and wait is - at least when it’s sold, it’s SOLD. I kind of hope she doesn’t pay so I can pull it and call it a day.
Honestly I would much rather take a bigger loss (10-15%) selling with FP. It’s so much easier. You send the pics, they send a quote and that’s it.

Totally agree minus that I have a Prada crystals bag that every buy out is low balling by a LOT, (loss of $1200-1500 off retail) and then relisting it close to retail. TRR or just waiting on eBay seems to be my best bet to not lose 2/3 of what I paid. And it’s basically brand new so it’s killing me lol. I thought VC might expand the eyes - but they were even more frustrating to deal with than eBay which was surprising lol. And I’m at least comfortable with their protections and authentication process. VC just made me nervous as a seller so far.

Same for me in terms of preferences to sell and buy as for ranking it’s:
1. FP/ Yoogis
2. Therealreal
3. VC
4. eBay/ Poshmark

But to be honest I only use FP and yoogis.

Guys, can someone explain to me why some buyers send messages asking if I would accept a certain price offer instead of just making an offer? The items they message about are open for making offers. What’s the logic behind this?

Okay, I think I got it myself: they do it when trying to buy for a ridiculously low price under the lowest possible offer
