Buyers beware when buying things on Vestiare collective. Their authentication service is NOT full proof and sometimes I doubt the capabilities of their authentication team (so only buy it when you can authenticate it yourself). I purchased a bag recently which passed through their authentication but had so many red flags when i inspected it in person. Brought it instore for verification and it failed! Thankfully vestiare refunded me after I wrote in.
From a seller’s perspective, I had my authentic bag (purchased personally from the boutique) fail their authentication and had to pay 12 euros to get my bag back + got penalised in terms of ratings.
Well i have a question, I had also problems with a LV speedy bought at Vestiare Collective. Later when checking the photos saw that the stitching looked crooked. I send a message to the seller a got no response. Then i contacted VC and they told me the stitching was not ok. The seller had brough it to a local cobbler. Luckily i cancel the order and got my money back. But was very stressful.
I have sold a bag via VC and i still have to receive my payment. But it went until now very good.
I just saw a gucci gg marmont small bag never worn for 1080. In the description says that the gucci bag is a preloved bag in partnership with Vestiare collective. Information never worn, reference 30488695.
I don’t understand the “in partnership” part. Is it authenticated by vestiare collective and gucci? Or is from an independent seller? What means in partnership with Vestiare Collective? The original price in the gucci website is 1450 euros.
I’m between buying this preloved bag in Vestiare Collective or the gucci gg mini at the gucci website whose original price is 1290 euros.
Would appreciate your opinions on this .Thank you aim advance!

Hi there,

Just checked the Gucci bag you referenced and am not sure if they are really vestiare themselves. But it’s a professional seller hence you have the option of returning the item if you aren’t happy with it. So I guess that’s something to consider here!

Thank you so much! Ok i though the seller was VC. I can’t see the difference myself between a fake and a real one. That’s the problem.

I have a bag I’m trying to sell - the experience has been difficult with VC. I felt like I was throwing darts trying to figure out how to find the “right” photos they wanted with their limited number of options you could upload. Then I finally got it listed, and I have tons of “likes” but no one purchased - which is fine. Now I have an offer, which I accepted, and she’s NOW asking questions about the bag while the time for paying is ticking down. Is this allowed? I’m so over these sites and that a sale just isn’t a sale any more. The only thing TRR has going for all their drama to authenticate, list, and wait is - at least when it’s sold, it’s SOLD. I kind of hope she doesn’t pay so I can pull it and call it a day.

I paid over retail for a pair of VC authenticated Bal Hard Crocs. I was on the wait list with Bal but impatient. I paid for my impatience because I was unknowingly wearing fake hardcrocs for 2 months.

when I got my new pair from bal.com I immediately saw all the reasons the vestaire pair were fake, I was mad at myself and told by VC they had been authenticated and my time to lodge a complaint or relist them for no fee was 72 hours after receipt. Of course, I would never sell something I KNOW to be fake, so the fake crocs are hiding far away in my closet as a reminder to NOT trust authentication on items that are so widely counterfeited.

I have purchased Vintage McQueen jackets and Vintage Alaia coats from VC and been happy; but I know both brands well enough to know what to look for with clothes.

I found another bag in interested the seller has a entrupy certificate. I found the meaning of the the entrupy certificate. Is this a good proof that a bag is real or can it be faked also?

Does anyone knows what entrupy certificate is?
It's an authentication company that supposedly uses AI (artificial intelligence) to authenticate. They compare things like stitch length while ignoring date codes. It isn't trustworthy. I would suggest you get anything with an entrupy certificate authenticated by someone who authenticates it the traditional way.

A very slim chance. It could have happened if you bought it from a retailer rather than the brand, as they might have accepted a return that was switched, then sold it to you. At the store for the brand, I would think they would know their product well enough for a switch to be caught. For your peace of mind, you could get an independent authentication. 99% their authenticators don't know what they are doing.
What is the difference between the retailer and the brand ? Is there a difference in gucci stores? Is it better to order from their website gucci.com?

I stared a PayPal case as I only receive generic chat messages generally stating „we care about your issue and will get back to you shortly“. The content of this message appears rather cynical if this is the message you receive every day all week!
Here is a question: would you answer the questions that potential buyers are asking? I would feel sorry for the next person who gets ripped of by VC, so I do not want to play along. Then again, I would love to get at least most of my money back and hope that the next person has more routine protecting themselves against their fraud, which is what they are doing in my opinion.
I wonder if it is worth it. With me they are also loosing my friends as customers. I don’t want to know how many thousands of Euros we spent together every year (probably 6 figure)
The PayPal case helped! VC still insists that they were right, but they refunded my money once I closed the PP case. I am not sure how involved PP gets. I had a pretty complete photo documentation on PP showing all the issues with the bag vs. the original posting stating that the bag was worn twice if at all.

Even though I was still under shock, I bought a 4000 Euro bag on VC a few days later. It was from a professional seller though with a 2 weeks return policy…

I know I am not an authenticator here, and while you wait for @whateve to reply to you I thought I would add my .02.
You can be pretty assured you are buying authentic from the stores and the brands' website direct.

A retailer is someone like Neimans who sells Valentino but is not the Valentino store. Back in the day I have heard horror stories where buyers would buy chanel or balenciaga from Neimans then return the fake version of the bag to the Neimans, so they get the real bag and their money back. I have no idea how often this happens anymore, or if it all. But, when I buy from a retailer I ALWAYS ask if they have a new bag in the back to sell and then if they do buy the brand new, unopened, bag.

Resale sites are riskier, and I have purchased 2 past season gucci bags from one online resale site because I felt assured by the pics that they were authentic. There are people who can help you authenticate off these sites.
Buying from Gucci.com is safe, and you should not worry about this. Again, could be some super swapper out there, but they have a return policy and if you felt unsure you could return.

hope this helps
