No, they are not wrong. SA was wrong in "breaking" store policy to "help" you out to save a few bucks. I thought it was common knowledge most stores won't hold sale pieces as those are considered to be immediate sales items. It was nice she was able to help you out in the past. Just didn't work out this time around. I wouldn't be going around trying to get her in trouble for it.

Oh I never wanted to get her in trouble for it at all! I would never mention names! I am just upset that I wasn't told this policy in advance. If i had known then I would have never let her hold it for me. She was just trying to help but I don't think it's right that a locator just comes and takes it. That's what I'm upset about. A locator should tell the SA first and maybe give them a warning about not holding sale items but they shouldn't punish the customer for it.

I'm sorry but no, Saks is not in the wrong here. Your SA was trying to do you a favour - in fact, she was doing something that is frankly against store policy. They do not owe you a gift card for any amount. There really is not a situation to rectify here. Unfortunately, things are taken from SA's hold shelves by other SAs all the time. It's just part of the business. I've had this happen to me multiple times, and at the end of the day I just moved on. There are bigger issues.

Okay I guess forget it then. I was just venting and wondering if there is anything that can be done. What I stated before was that I don't think it's right, if a SA did something "a little wrong" to be helpful to a good customer, that the customer should pay for the mistake. A locator, if it was indeed them and not another SA who took the jacket, should first notify the SA whose rack they are removing things from, so that their client can be called and asked if they would like to come and purchase the product immediately, or else it will be going to someone else. I really honestly had no clue at all on policies regarding holding sale items.

That's all I was saying

^^ Well, here is something else to consider: If your SA was bending the rules for you, then it's very likely that no one else was aware that particular jacket was even on hold.

I know it's frustrating, but there really isn't much that you can do. I'm sorry.

It was on my SA's hold rack in the back with a big hold sign on it! That's what so frustrating :shucks: Oh well, I guess I just gotta move on...

I worked in retail before ( in a commission based dept.)and how it worked back then was if a SA had an item on hold for someone and it was against policy to hold it and another SA had a customer right there to buy it, we'd pull it and sell it.
Also if you wanted it so bad, wouldn't you have found time to go get it?
First of all it shouldn't have been held in the first place.
Second, most people who put things in hold never come back.
You always can do a charge / paid hold.( over the phone in your case).
Where you pay for the item and it's there and held at the store for you until you pick it up.
I know you wanted to use a gift card though.
In a situation like that, when you go to pick up you're paid hold, you have your SA do a return on it back to your card and re ring the purchase so you can use your gift card.
Hope you find another one.

my understanding is that no holds are allowed on sale merchandise... your SA was

going out of her way to do her best by rotating names & dates to keep that jacket

for you... she was doing her best.. it is possible that another SA took it to sell

or that it was found by the locater.. in any event, you should have gone to SFA used

your gift card and gotten the jacket.... it is possible that it could be returned.. you

should let your SA know if it comes back just to charge & send it out... lesson learned!

*Update*

My SA and I did some detective work today. She found out that it was NOT a locator who took the jacket. One of her co workers, she doesn't know whom yet, took the jacket off her hold rack to either purchase it for themself, or sold it to another customer!!

I actually went ahead and called Current/Elliott today and found out the sku number and style name. My SA then searched for it throughout the entire Saks and not one size was left at any location. Completely sold out!!!

Now I am wondering though if the Saks computer can give info on the last purchase and will give the SA's number so she can find out exactly who it was.

I am soooooooo mad!!!! :cursing:

Held items are never a guaranteed sale, which is why holding a sale item is against policy. A store will ALWAYS take an immediate sale over a hold, no matter what the SA attempted to do, and no matter how good the customer. The best policy if you ever get something placed on hold for you is to get to the store ASAP, preferably the same day while the SA you spoke to is still there. Otherwise almost no retail stores make it a policy to hold sale items, and there is no recourse against another employee who sold it our from under you and the SA who held it. Sure you may be able to find out who it was, but what does it matter? The jacket is gone and the SA who sold it didn't technically do anything wrong.

The jacket was a sale item and you didn't pay for it, so even though your SA was 'trying' to reserve it for you, they don't do holds for sale merchandise so you have no entitlement to the jacket. You should have paid for it right off if you wanted it so bad. Your SA made a mistake telling you to wait. What does it matter if Saks can look up who the last sale was? The item wasn't yours, you hadn't paid yet. It was up for grabs, basically.

And why would Saks owe you a gift card? Not getting that.
