LOL. And that's why every time someone mentions to me that we could move to NYC, I laugh. I just can't deal. I have good self-esteem but I don't see the point in being yelled at by someone I'm trying to give money to. It's a pet peeve of mine. I refuse to beg to give a vendor or SA my money.

ITA with this. If I'm treated rudely in a store, I would never set foot in there again. There are loads of other places I can go to where my business would be appreciated.

And OP, sorry to hear that you had a bad shopping experience. The SA acted like a complete ass.

I often have bad experiences in higher-end stores due to being a plus-size gal. Saks and Neiman Marcus have been the worst in making my self-esteem plummet. I'm generally confident, but there is nothing like having a SA publicly announce "nothing in the store could possible fit" to make me want to crawl into a hole. I am all about shoe sale racks, but I stick to on-line sales when it comes to those two stores.

But, Nordstrom has always been pleasant for me.

i mainly shop at nordstrom to avoid pain the ass SAs. SAs dont realize that they represent the store and their bad behavior leaves a sour taste in many mouths.

i have had a pleasant experience at Bergdorfs.

Thanks for the feedback ladies!

I don't know what's up with the SAs these days. Like I said, niceness doesn't kill. By being nicer to cutomers, not only do you make money off of it, you feel happy and have an enjoyable day! I really don't get it!

The SAs in Chanel on 5th Ave are the absolute worst! They won't even give you the time of day!

I was just in NYC last month and was shocked at how some of the SAs were! Their attitude and lack of service left a very sour taste and I ended up doing all of my shopping elsewhere! It's crazy, though, because I've never had a problem at the Saks near my home. I guess it's just a New York thing...

I live here and face this all the time. I don't give business to those folks. Within any store is someone helpful. Just go to one who looks eager to help. Or better yet, I don't ask anyone, I wait until one asks me to help, and even then if they seem "I hate my job," I keep looking for another. This is one reason I shop on line. I just don't like that. They are a service industry, so service is quite important. I don't like most of my 'customers' but they do pay me so I am nice and try to help as best I can.

I know, the SA at the comptemporary clothing department advised me to do so. But I'm way too timid and who's to say the manager won't be equally unhelpful?

The SA's at our STL Saks come at you like prowling hunters they want to claim their stake. If you bought from them before, they will chastise you if you buy from another sales associate. (pet peeve here...like we have to HUNT the SA down or wait till they are off of their lunch break)...

My sister was inside the Chanel boutique when a known SA was coming down the escalator, she saw my sister talking (gasp) to another SA. In a shrill voice she screams my sister's name in horror and says HOW DARE YOU.

That was the last straw. We complained to management and of course they apologized but guess what, nothing has changed.

I am in NY and I go to Saks really often. SAs at the designer shoes department are mostly bad! I bought some Louboutin before and they were either in the wrong size, or they were floor samples (when I have them shipped to my home, I asked them and paid for the new ones), or they are missing the dustbag and the spare heels.

Sad!

I bought wedding gown from them as well and the ladies were nice though. Maybe just the shoes department (that's where I mostly hang out). Since then I don't really buy shoes from Saks anymore. Don't understand why people can do things like this..

It seems to me that the SAs at Saks on 5th Ave treat me a lot better than the ones in New Orleans.
SAs in New Orleans ignore me, don't say hi, aren't friendly until I approach them wanting something i.e. getting commission soon.

I had a pair of Roger Vivier boots sent to me and got two right boots. They were on sale and when I called no one cared to try to help me. I loved them and was sooooo disappointed.

Now I am very careful to make sure they have the right shoes in the box before they take it away to send to me.

Barneys and BG have better shoe departments IMO.

so sorry to hear OP, i've yet to experience that at saks nyc...and i usually go during sales too. if you ever want to, we can go together next time, to Bergdorf's if you'd like.

Hey Randr. Bergdorf's is having their shoe sale now. :graucho: Their shoes on sale are always amazing, they never disappoint. However, I spent a bomb on the NAP recent sale. Gonna have to survive on bread and water now.

So for the time being, I'm avoiding Bergdorfs, Barneys and Saks like the plague. I literally have to distract myself. I've been going to the bookstore, the park etc to resist the urge from going down to 5th Ave, I'm not kidding. And I'm a size 5. because it's not a popular size, you KNOW the stores have some nice shoes on sale, waiting, just waiting to be bought. Ugh, this is killing me just thinking about it :shucks:
