Good lord...

Hi all! I have a silly question. When I first visited the VCA store, I tried on the vintage VCA necklace, 1 motif guilloche, YG. I instantly fell in love with it, the necklace is so elegant and shiny. I didn't intend to buy so I didn't carefully examine it. A month later when I came back to make a purchase, this time I examined it very closely. I noticed there are some scratches on the motif when I tilted around. There's still a price tag on the necklace so I assume it's brand new. I asked SA to bring out another one but they look the same, both have some scratches, minor and still noticeable if you look at it closely. At first, I thought they're specks of dust but after rinsing it and wiping it, it's still there. This is my first VCA purchase so I want it to be close to perfect . I'm debating whether I should contact my SA to come in and take a look at another one but I'm afraid it might be the same case and waste a trip to the city. Am I a little too picky on things like this? I know that jewelry are handmade, I wonder what was your experience like? is it normal that the motifs still have some scratches even if it's brand new from the store? Thank you for your response in advance

I am not sure if this is the case in your situation, but with guilloche pieces, the reflection of a prong sometimes will look like a scratch radiating across the Guilloche lines. I noticed this with a brand new never worn piece as well.

Thanks for your response! At first I thought it's peck of dust, so I cleaned it with water, wipe it using cloth and Q tips but it's still there. I just want to make sure that I'm not getting a used necklace and want to confirm that it's normal for never worn piece to look like that.

Yes, if it is a reflection radiating, then the line will move as you move the motif. If it is just in one spot no matter how you move the motif, then it may be a scratch.

Thank you @EpiFanatic and @waterlily112

I just gave it a clean up and it looks much brighter now and now i do see some micro scratches. I can only imagine how the bracelet will get beat up even more.

I’m slowly getting used a little bit to its weight after few hrs of wear.
Verdict : this necklace is going straight back to my aunt. I’ve been wearing for 2 days and it gave me neck ache and headache. I just can’t handle it.
