I can't confirm if it's standard protocol but when I asked to have my 5 motif shorten, was on the fence between 8 links and 6 links and the SA suggested 6 links. I decided on 8 links but my SA reassure me that if it end up too tight I can bring it back for another adjustment for free.
i’ve had my bracelet for less than a month and so far have done 2 adjustments
1st to adjust to 16cm then i adjusted to 17cm
no charges at my SG boutique so far
my SA told me i could go back for complementary resizing so long its within the first yr

I just received a YG 10 motif Malachite that I ordered last month. I told my SA that was I looking for vibrant green stones as I am concerned about darkening over time. He said everyone at the boutique thought this was one of prettiest Malachite necklaces they have seen in a long time. I am on the fence...the stones are consistent but dark. Malachite lovers please chime in.

I think it's really really beautiful and the coloring looks really even. If this were a piece I was seeking out it would be a keeper for me but in the end it's what makes you happy.

I can't tell if it's just the lighting but it's a tad too muted/dark for my taste, but I love the uniform striations on each stone. You'll have to love it to keep it.

For me, malachite should be bright, and equally important, the striations should pop out.
The malachite shade in the necklace is a bit too dark, and the actual shade leans toward a grayish-green vs. a bluish green (preferred).

The main issue with this necklace to me are the striations.
For malachite, I like to see more lighter striations, and this 10 motif has a lot of dark striations. I only see maybe two motifs (out of the 10) with lighter striations. It is the lighter striations that make it pop in my opinion. The dark striations make the stone recede.

I know the photo below is a mod shot, but see how the light striations make it pop? That's would I would want, streaks of light.

It could be lighting in your photo, but for me, I would pass. Just my two cents. Hope this helps.

I agree with the other comments-Maybe we need a better lit photo? It does looking like it's in dim lighting but maybes it's not? But again if you are not happy with it-it should go back.

Thank you @Kellybuzzbuzz , @BigAkoya, @waterlily & @Paola1976 for your input! Sorry the light was a little dim in the photo but it honestly is representative of the color. I think the consensus is the uniformity is nice but the darkness of the striations is too dark. Guess it is going back :(

I think this will be the last time I order a colored stone because I think you just need to see it in person. This also happened with the BA I ordered

I am going to return and use the $$ towards getting the Clover which I have been dreaming about.

I’m sorry it wasn’t the color you were looking for!! At these prices you should really love the piece at first sight so I totally agree, if you’re not 100% in love I would send it back and get what you really want. The Clover is a classic and failsafe piece for sure.

I hope you’re able to go in and see the stones in person next time when you decide to choose the stone you want!

Hi everyone! Looking for suggestions on which would be complementary and better option long term as I can only have one choice. I have a set in malachite and looking to add either carnelian or guilloche alhambra in YG.
One must get returned, what would you look to keep? Thanks so much!

Hi! I would get carnelian. For me, the beauty of Alhambra is the colored stones.
Yes, guilloche is safe and yes, it's shiny metal. However, in the end, it's just a shiny gold chain to me, not a lot of character.

Plus, I think long term, once the loud shiny metal chain look is not as popular, you may not wear it much and think it looks loud (e.g. 1980s Dynasty). Carnelian, along with other stones, are beautiful and will forever be a classic, iconic VCA.

That just me, and it's all preference. Hope this helps in your decision. Congratulations on your next set!

Thank you so much! I’ve been leaning a bit this way as well plus I had the carnelian necklace from before however, I must say you make a solid point! I’m South Asian, so I have lots of 22k gold sets etc with designs so it’s could be a bit redundant as well. The guilloche may not be as desirable once it get scratched up after years.

I think I’m letting the “hard to get” part affect me with guilloche but agree perhaps carnelian is best. It really looks regal too.

Since you have 22K gold sets, I would definitely skip the guilloche. My guess is some of your 22K gold sets have far more intricate gold metalwork than the simple straight lines of guilloche.

The red carnelian will be so gorgeous and striking on you. Plus, you can also wear the carnelian with your other 22K gold pieces if you want to pile it on at times.

you are the best BigAkoya! Thank you! Solid advice! Also I tried my bracelet on as a choker and it’s stunning! I used a small length gold chain/necklace extender. Just fabulous
