VCA ~ Van Cleef Arpels Discussion thread!

I haven't spoken with my SA yet, but was curious to see if anyone here has had a problem or experience with older WG pieces turning yellow? I purchased an older WG turquoise 5 motif and the links are extremely yellow and fragile. The clovers are also yellowing but the sides and clasp are still WG. The first time I wore it, I got it hung on a blanket and one of the links broke. It's been a disappointing purchase, but it has been a wish list item forever. I'm not sure it would be worth $$$$/time to send it to VCA.

Just got the Van Cleef 5 motif bracelet in onyx to stack with my love bracelet and I love it so much! Love how it looks together but does anyone know if the overlapping will scratch up the 5 motif bracelet? Does this look normal or should I wear it on separate hands instead?

I don't stack mine but looks like there's a whole thread about stacking VCA with Cartier, most people noted no visible damage to the stones from stacking:

I used to stack mine with no issues, but I ran across an article on the care of each VCA stone and I’ve decided to take a bit more care with mine. I’m not worried about the straight up gold pieces, but saw examples / images of stone in motifs shrinking and scratches that I’d like to avoid.

I'm from Canada and will be going to a different Canadian city to purchase the sweet alhambra necklace since they seem harder to find here where i live and also because i want to try to get it before the price increase. My question is if i need to have the necklace extended, can i bring back to my local store (Birks) to have it done or can it only be done at the store where i originally buy it from?

Adjustments like extensions or shortening can be done at any VCA boutique! If it’s within certain timeframe of purchase it should be free for the first adjustment as well.

Not sure if this is true in Canada but I was in the boutique today and was told that there isn't a limit on how many times I could have an item adjusted within the first year. I was previously under the impression that it was a 1 time adjustment but they were willing to send back the necklace I went in to pick up for a second adjustment

Edit for typos

Oh interesting, I wonder if this is a Canada only perk. In Australia, Asia, and US it is free for the first adjustment only unless they did it incorrectly the first time around or if you have a very good relationship with your SA where they’re willing to waive multiple adjustments.

Sorry, I think I worded that confusingly! I'm based in the US but only mentioned Canada since the person who asked the question is based there. The SA who helped me was someone I haven't worked with before. Maybe I just got lucky or he just liked my silly joke (that I was trying to come back to the boutique as many times as possible to hoard all the chocolates they give you ). He didn't mention any associated fee but I can follow up in a few weeks once I go pick up my necklace. I don't know if it makes a difference but I was also dropping off a second necklace at the same time so maybe he was just being nice?

Ah ok I see! If he’s willing to waive it for you then all the better!

Glad you bit the bullet before the price increase and bought the piece which you were planning to buy but later this month?
I don’t have this piece yet but planning on buying this in WG. Many on this forum will tell you it goes with everything, and I think you’ve made a great choice for a first piece, congratulations it looks stunning! **
