Turquoise is stunning. I haven’t seen it irl but get what you absolutely love and have planned for! Don’t let thoughts like ‘because it’s rare’, ‘because others have it so should I get one too?’ kind of thoughts waylay you from your original plans. If lapis is what has been tugging at your heartstrings, then that’s what you should get. Sometimes it’s easy to get into the trap of ‘the new and the exciting’. I know I did when I got the HP 2021 and then I immediately realized pink is not for me and I returned the pendant the next day. Thank god that I did. I always remind myself that just because there are so many beautiful things in this world, it doesn’t mean I need to buy it all.

All the best with your decision.

I just wish I could see the turquoise in person to make my decision bc I would know right away. That’s my true dilemma. I’ve seen the blue lapis and know I love love love that stone. I’m certain the turquoise looks different in person as pics never do these stones justice. I think I will literally just have to wake up tomorrow morning and make my decision based on where my heart is.

You bring up an interesting point that I had not thought of which is the seasonality of lapis vs turquoise.
I actually am not certain I want them because of the hype. I have never been one to fall into that. I absolutely love the two butterfly collection and was determined to add the blue lapis but just a bit confused now that turquoise was released. I’m not one that personally feels I need 2 sets of these earrings either. So, if I settle on turquoise, I will walk away from getting the blue lapis and vice versa.

I’m drooling over these blue lapis photos. Gorgeous!!!!
Yes, that is downside if you only get one butterfly set. I honestly cannot see myself wearing turquoise with dark winter clothes and sweaters, so I would never wear the turquoise set in the fall or winter. The theme is wrong to me. Lapis is year round. The downside to lapis is that it is not the happy fun summery shade.

If you only want one set, I personally feel the lapis looks beautiful on the hand as a BTF ring. The deep blue is stunning with the YG.
The turquoise is amazing too, but to me, it is more of a summer fun piece and looks great with a tan on the beach.

Oh.. the tradeoffs in life... everything has a tradeoff. Pick your poison!

You are also assuming you can get a full lapis butterfly set. Do you know that for sure? You may want to order the lapis set now. Lapis is very very hard to come by now due to the environment in Afghanistan, which is where quality lapis is sourced. I had ordered and paid in full for a lapis ring around last November 2021. Two months later, VCA Paris sends my SA an email saying they cannot commit to making my ring in lapis at this time and gives me a refund.

If you cannot get the lapis butterfly set, then you have your answer... get the turquoise set! Both are really lovely, especially if you have been wanting a butterfly set.

Strike while the iron is hot! (words that have been burned in my brain from my husband).
Get your set!

@chacci1 Do not compromise on your stone of choice!
However, let me say that turquoise looks great with winter clothes, whether dark colors or winter whites. Both of the attached photos were taken in January. I would question more if being a turquoise butterfly (vs Alhambra, which is all I can post photos of), makes it more in tune with Spring and Summer clothing.
BTW, I have never had a tan in my life!

You are so right!! I knew I could get lapis when I asked for it a few months ago, but I haven’t inquired about it since. This is actually the first question I’m going to ask tomorrow and then go from there depending on the answer!

On the other hand, I can see a lapis butterfly more e

Looking forward to seeing what you decide on!

I chose the pendant myself and went to the store on launch day to try but I actually don’t see any of these pieces as spring/summer pieces. But maybe also depends on your wardrobe colors?
As you can see in the pic, it was a cold day so I was wearing a thin sweater with a tweed jacket on top.
However my fall/winter wardrobe includes lights and brights as well as dark colors as does my spring/summer wardrobe. So I can see myself wearing this turquoise pendant throughout the year and I also think whether as earrings or pendant, it’s great as a pop of color against darks like greys, navy etc

You don't need a tan. Already gorgeous so don't need to ruin your skin :flowers:

i see my tan comment requires clarification…

I also do not have a tan. I put on full sunscreen daily, and I never go out in the sun/beach.

I am not saying to get a tan.

I am saying turquoise to me is summer. What comes to my mind for turquoise jewelry is the ocean breeze, walking on the French Riviera, etc.

I do realize everyone wears jewelry differently, but it would be a shame for someone to buy an expensive turquoise set (especially now with all the hype) and not have been provided input to consider the seasons for wearability.

For me, I have a non-VCA turquoise set which is how I realized it only works for me the summer, not in the winter with boots and sweaters.

Add to the turquoise, this is butterflies and turquoise, so this is summer to me. Turquoise and lapis is year round to me.

Of course, it’s all preference.

My post got a little garbled with a bad internet connection. I don’t disagree with you completely. My point was intended to be that in my opinion turquoise works for all-seasons, lapis butterfly works for all seasons, turquoise AND butterfly may be on a case by case basis. Clearly it works for Spring and Summer, but may require more intentional styling to wear in Winter.
