Anyone speculate that there could be a price decrease? Last price decrease for VCA was in 2017, under a certain U.S. president. VCA claimed the price drop was from lack of demand. A perlee bangle peaked at $29k and dropped to $25k that year.

Given the import tariffs coming up with same said president next month, could luxury prices go down since the next four years will be difficult per Elon Musk? I heard retailers for common goods are stocking up based on these tariffs.

I just wonder since prices have been pretty crazy across luxury goods including Chanel over the years in the U.S.
Luxury prices such as Burberry, Gucci and other brands have went down but definitely not VCA.

Even if they adjusted it down which they won't, the tarrifs would still make it more expensive than today.
Gold prices are breaking records, material and production costs will only go up.

I doubt it will be price decrease, people now don’t have common sense, they would live in a rented apartment, have no car, have no savings but still buy luxury goods to show off, that’s the way of living now, also so many people with easy money currently, so I doubt very much about price decrease especially on Alhambra

1000000% agree. Each to their own, but there definitely doesn’t seem to be a lack of demand for VCA, Alhambra in particular

I am speculating a lot about the next 4 years but price decreases on luxury goods is not one of them.

Tariffs on imports into the US from France would significantly raise the price, not lower it. The said president-elect has mentioned tariffs on French goods would be 20%, which I am pretty sure VCA would pass directly on to American consumers. Even disregarding that, I think VCA has their items pretty well priced given demand, if inventory is any indication.

How Richemont treats it's montblanc sweatshop employees is beyond disappointing.

No one knows if Jewellery is also sub contracted to sweatshop like these but a price decrease from Richemont's VCA is absolutely out of discussion.

Thank you for sharing this, this really makes me question my obsession for luxury in the past… no wonder I haven’t been purchasing that much in the last couple of years… :(

I don’t know.. but I read that we are encountering a bubble burst similar to 2008’s housing market bubble burst or perhaps the 2000’s dot com bubble since the U.S. election. Aka warning signs. One certain stock to date is overvalued at the moment and hitting 400 thanks to BofA securities’ announcement and the owner’s soon to be active role in the U.S. govt.

Then there are these US deportation threats which will definitely increase the cost of common goods in certain sectors aka fruits, vegetables, name it. Famous iPhones may increase in price due to China retaliating and banning export of their blue chips to the U.S. Next four years does sound chaotic from an economic standpoint.

I just makes me wonder.. then walking around SCP, one of the biggest malls in the US, the vibe is different. Not a lot of people showing off their luxury items. In the past, I saw Birkins, Cartiers, VCA, jumbo size Chanels on window shoppers! Now newly purchased luxury items are in brown or white bags. Only the smallest vanity bag Chanels and ipad sized Hermes bags are being used by affluent window shoppers.

Just makes me wonder if VCA price decreases will happen since this thread anticipates a price increase. Perhaps luxury prices will be stable in Europe…. I’m not sure about the U.S. in the next four years.

See, this also makes me wonder. In my area, VCA is so convoluted. Like the Cartier Love bracelets are ubiquitous (and I don’t live in Beverly Hills), but I see men.. men wearing VCA bracelet with different stones (malachite, onyx, etc) now! Then shopping at Trader Joe’s I see VCA knock offs. I wonder if the demand will taper down? I used to see Cartier Love knock offs, now it’s VCA Alhambra bracelets. Seems like the demand for Cartier Loves has decreased because of many people wearing it. I wonder if VCA will experience the same and instead of prices decreases, just keep the price stable like Cartier.

The two VCA price decreases in 2017 in the U.S. was frustrating. Goes back to my original question, should we worry about or anticipate price decreases with VCA? VCA and Cartier do work differently even though they are under the same corporation, Richemont. I think Richemont operates as a conglomerate and allows its sectors to run their own operation.
