While I can understand that one can be lured if seller uses faux friendly communication to persuade a buyer to purchasing a counterfeit. I would not condem friendly communication as false as the seller may be genuinely friendly and helpful. I've just answered a post on the accessories thread regarding a seller being unwilling to assist/communicate with a buyer which is clearly not acceptable. However sometimes it seems that sellers both friendly or fierce are under fire. Communication is a two way dialogue and if some of the shabby communication here is representative of how some sellers are treated they may just react with a reciprocal lack of charm IMO.

Oh wow fleurs, THANK you so much!! I appreciate a lot that you took the time to see through few of his items on the website! I was very curious to know if the bags in the pics were authentic. I do think he has good pics and he was very friendly on emails.
I understand Thailand doesn't sound very reliable place to buy an H bag, but I think also that the the country has two faces. There are a lot of scammers with counterfeits but also very sincere people. I have travelled there few times and I think that for a tourist that country has one of the most friendly and helpful people in the world.
So it is always possible that this seller is a genuine person. But then again he might not. That is the risk you have to take if you consider doing business with him. I have the impression Paypal convers you with any deals, also outside ebay. Am I wrong??

Dear Nankali

Thank you for your kind words.

It seems that this seller is unknown to us at tPF and while he may have a stellar reputation on other forums, to date no member has provided a review of a purchasing experience from this seller. I would be very wary but as you say your query was are the bags authentic and I believe what is shown is authentic. But as we know photographs of authentic H bags on a website may not represent what you receive ie a counterfeit. From what you have said you are browsing and I would just browse until you find the H bag that you would like from a reputable and known seller. Our prime concern is for safety and security in your purchase.

With regards to Paypal I would not trust them to feed my cat in a competent manner let alone handle a dispute/refund claim between a buyer and seller. I speak from an extremely and expensive (for me) experience I had with Paypal many years ago when I was a novice and Paypal found in favour of a seller of a counterfeit H bag. In subsequent, and lesser claims, I have gone direct to my credit card company to instigate a 'chargeback' even though the payment, using the credit card, was via Paypal. Paypal do not like this as they like to be 'in charge' of the dispute/refund claim but boo hoo they have to do as your credit card company instruct them. As far as I know Amex are the most firm of credit card companies who do not tolerate much nonsense. I would not advise any other payment than credit card unless you are purchasing from a well known seller of high repute.

Please take your time and play safe. Good luck.

If I am selfish, I will not share my fabulous experience with Jean of Inside the Orange Box. I have not dealt with tremendous excitement before until I saw my first Birkin beautifully packaged with complimentary gifts. This lady is FIRST CLASS!!!!

Best of the best. Better than my SA :yahoo:

I agree with fleurs. I always use Amex through paypal and would never even bother going through paypal if I had a problem. Amex is known for its customer service protection. (and that's why you pay the membership fee)

Dear fleurs, you're such a sweet person! I do know you are just concern of my safety and that I won't end up with a fake Kelly. And I appreciate it so much! I think I might do silly things if it wasn't for you guys. When you live in a country with no H store you might start to invent all kinds of particular ways to find these things your heart desires.. :sneaky: :ninja:
Anyway, thanks guys for being here!!

Yes, dear, you may say as many wonderful things about me as you like! I will not complain!

Seriously, tPF members are the best. I have gotten some wonderful things from H-forum ladies and it's always nice to know that my new-to-me H item has come from the house of a friend. :flowers:

Here's a peculiar situation.
I contacted Malleries to alert them that Boutique Patina has a couple of fake bags listed. A "fauve camel birkin"(which has been changed to gold) and a black kelly.
Here's the email exchange. You be the judge.

"Thank you for writing Malleries. We appreciate your efforts in helping us
maintain our site and sellers' integrity to the highest standard. Upon
receiving your email, we have addressed your comment. The seller also has
immediately addressed the issue providing written documentation from the
manufacturer to satisfy Malleries' queries raised. If you have any further
questions about the details on these items, feel free to contact the seller
directly and they can give you specifics.

Thanks again for being an advocate for product safety on Malleries."

I wrote back saying that Hermes does not provide written documentation on bags. I never said I was an expert. Here's what's next.

"Thank you again for your concern. We do understand that Hermes does not provide written authentication on bags. “However, since you are an expert, we are certain you are aware that there are other ways that Hermes can verify authenticity and the resulting documentation from those processes."

I replied with: "Yes, the other way is for them to refurbish/clean the items. They issue a receipt for the service. That receipt can be adapted to any bag that fits the description."

Their reply:

"Yes of course. Thank you again."

Rather dismissive, don't you think? And rude too!

So for those of you who are thinking of buying from Malleries. If you get a fake bag, you have absolutely no recourse bc the bags have "written documentation". Which equates to you won't get your money back.

Regarding this GROSS INACCURACY.......
This gold B30 being sold by Patina on Malleries and Ebay is NOT a fake Birkin. I personally purchased it, took it to my local H that has an onsite craftsman and it was accepted to have my initials placed on it. It is an AUTHENTIC bag without a doubt.

People need to seriously know for a FACT a bag is not authentic before they go on a public forum and basically slander a seller's reputation. An opinion is one thing.......when something is stated as fact with NO truth or bearing to back it up, it can have legal repercussions.

:hugs: My first Birkin also came from Jean, and even though it didn't come with an orange box, the packaging was superb. I don't think that Birkin moved a millimeter inside the cardboard box during it's trip through the mail, and it was in exactly the condition she described, if not better.
