Trusted Hermes Reseller Discussion Thread

A reseller on ebay recently gobbled up a lot of my Hermes scarves I listed (apparently I listed them at a great price as they were mostly NWT). She has now marked them up significantly and is selling them. More power to her and it's her business if she resells anything I sold her but here's the problem.....I sold her a used scarf with a small stain that I disclosed. It was listed WAY below retail because of this stain and I listed it as "pre-loved." She now has it listed as NWT and marked it up double what she paid. It is not a current design nor one that is easy to locate so I know the one she listed is the one she bought from me. There are only 2 on ebay - my old one and one in Japan at a crazy crazy price. (not that hers is not crazy either!) Anyway - she has no idea that I know her seller ID as she purchased the scarves from me using another ID.....her buyer's ID. I guess there is a small chance that the one I'm referring to is not my old scarf but I doubt it.
There is not a thing that I can do about it and I will not confront her about it. It just makes me question NWT Hermes scarf listings now on ebay if resellers "clean up" used ones in their inventory and sell as new.

I believe that recent reviews here regarding eBay Brand JFA (and some other Japanese resellers like brand off) have been very mixed, but I’ve personally had great experiences, speedy shipping; condition as described; and great prices. I do examine the photos carefully and make sure my prospective purchases are authentic prior to purchase. Everyone should do their own due diligence. I also send all purchases to @docride for reconditioning, refurbishment, weather treatment; etc. So, I factor in 10% customs (standard with DHL); US state sales tax; docride spa and other treatment fees; and, cost of insured shipping. I prefer heritage leather; love the sustainability of shopping preloved; and am happy to get deals and projects particularly of discontinued styles or material. Two recent purchases a 32 box Kelly sellier, brushed phw, (I bought a 28 box Kelly earlier this year) and a vintage silver chèvre (?) clutch, phw. This summer and early fall, the reseller prices dropped due to covid.

I have a Kelly Sellier 32 in Marron Fonce box, G stamp. I used to be active here but have been away for several years. Anyway, my Kelly is in excellent condition- virtually no wear as I literally wore it just twice. I have two current offers (cash outs not consignment) from two reputable resale companies, but the amounts offered seem a bit low. Would greatly appreciate input about the range I should expect to receive.

I am100% with you there. I don’t go near Hermes resellers ( the mark up!) but Best (if not only) option to get anything kelly in box and as you say sustainability wise it’s unbeatable. @papertiger hope your order is getting sorted?

Has anyone bought from BJluxury.com based in Singapore? Are they legit?

yep! BJLuxury is an excellent and professional reseller, responsive and provided me with plenty of detailed, clear photos of all the bags i was interested in. they were also able to deliver to me the next day after I made payment, as I wasn't able to make it to their brick and mortar store. I'd be happy to purchase from them again!

Adding 2 other SG resellers i've had great experiences with (and would 100% purchase from again) -- Tricia from Ciaciasg, and Trove by SGD. Both have brick and mortar stores as well, which is my preference when buying from resellers.

Hello dear ladies. Could you help me please. I am a newbie to this game and have heard about this lady - Shakira Pirzada Sheraz, acting as a private source for Hermes . Has anyone bought from her or dealt with her? Would really like a reference :smile::smile: So many resellers out there and I dont want to go wrong. Hear she is a big deal with sourcing.

Hi. what do you guys think of Prive Porter? I know that they sell at a high premium price. Are all of their Birkins and Kellies really brand new and authentic

They have a really nice store in Brickell City Centre right next to Apple. Whatever her past from what...20 years ago?!? Simon Properties owns BCC one of the largest mall groups in America. I'm sure they did their due diligence. You don't see Rebag and The RealReal landing premium retail space like that.

I think it was ridiculous when at the checkout they just automatically add 20% import duty (and VAT) on top as long as the item is not located in the same country no matter the condition of the item is either new or used...However, this is just one website, not every website will follow this but I did see other website tried to indicate the VAT and import duty at the checkout if shipping to the UK. I hope for Hermes it won't go too crazy but I guess now as this goes like this, it is very likely we should expect a VAT-free shopping when travelling to EU. Fingers crossed.
Can anyone please educate me on the reasons why VC decided to add 20% VAT when 1. it's a p2p sale and VC is only a platform and 2. brexit deal mentioned that there would be no import/ export tariffs?

I’m so angry! I purchased something via Vestiaire on 19th December from a uk based buyer, for added security I had it sent to Vestiaire to be checked out- delays due to Brexit meant it only arrived in Paris this Tuesday 5th. Vestiaire shipped it to me this morning and DHL have messaged to confirm delivery for tomorrow and guess what??
I have to pay £500 import tax:annoyed::annoyed:/VAT
So angry as it the delay letting it into France from UK that caused this ( it was sat in a warehouse in France for ages before being sent to Vestiaire) and in the UK we don’t pay Vat on 2nd hand goods so why should we when we buy from overseas?
plus if not for the delay in releasing it due to backlog due to Brexit I would have received the item well before 31st December
So upset! That’s my money for a Calvi verso gone for nothing!
I’m wondering if I can contest this charge- I’ve paid it to get the goods but it seems insane that it going UK-Paris-back to UK has cost me £500!
Rant over !

I'm so sorry about this, how utterly awful/enraging!

As an aside to the whole Brexit thing (but still somewhat due to it), as of 1st Jan I understand all international businesses need to have a UK registered company address and need to charge and report all taxes directly to HMRC, rather than the old system where the courier company or customs would charge.

I think you're right that this shouldn't apply to second hand goods, but I think that as this is a new thing, everyone is trying to find their way. Still, my understanding was it was for PURCHASES after 1st Jan, not deliveries, so I don't think you should be affected anyhow. Not sure how much luck you have, but I would certainly take this up with Vestiaire...

Good luck!

It’s worth reading the gov website below. The bottom of the page says:
Goods sold before 1 January 2021
If a seller receives payment for an order before 11pm on 31 December 2020 and dispatches the item after that time, these rules will not apply.”

I wanted to say thanks for the advice-
I contacted both Vestiare and DHL and stated my case that as the goods were purchased on the 19th December I should not be charged the Vat/imprt duty.
Today I got an email from Vestiare agreeing to pay the money back into my account.
At almost £500 thats a big relief!
