Nicole, I sent you a pm. I think one should just use extra care in dealing with them at this point. They seem to have growing pains. There was quite a bit of confusion in my correspondence with them. At one point they referred to my chanel bag as a Bolide! Their correspondence seems rushed and confused. The initial emails come from Ann but then a corporate operations manager takes over. So this is no longer the one woman owned and operated small business with a few employees that it was. (I personally will probably never use them again after this. The chief benefit to paying for their services is supposed to be a stress free sale.)

Not sure where you are getting your information. AFF has never been a one woman show. Are you assuming that from the name? Did you talk to them about your dissatisfaction and give them the opportunity to make it right before you take to this forum and malign them? Sorry, you can not convince me that they confused a Chanel with an H Bolide. I'm not discounting that you might have had less than perfect experience, but this hiccup does not negate the many years that she and her team have treated every buyer and seller fairly and with kindness.

Have you ever run a business? You get feedback in your Healthcare environment now mandated by the government. Maybe you or one of your peers received some FB that you felt wasn't fair or an accurate picture of the situation. And that less than stellar FB does not negate all the good that one has provided over the years.
I think you are too quick or too angry about an isolated situation to come on this forum and malign them. Who knows; maybe they are glad to lose you as a customer. But from the years that I've worked with Ann, I'm sure she would want to make it right with you.

I've sent a couple of bags their way recently as well; selling anything above a certain $$$$ value on eBay just makes me nervous now. One of the bags sold quickly and I was happy with the price; the other hasn't sold and the photographs of it are frankly pretty bad, making it look used when it's brand-new and pristine. My partner was actually the one corresponding with them-- I was having a seriously busy work period, and the one thing that interests him about my bags is the resale market, so I put him to work :amuse:-- and he reported that Ann's employees were all polite, but that Ann herself was weirdly snippy in correspondence and said one of the bags we sent was "deeply scratched," which it certainly wasn't. It caused some panic on our end because we thought some kind of awful damage had occurred in shipping, but it turned out Ann just didn't have a very good bedside manner, so to speak.

In fairness, I would note that we haven't mentioned the bad photos of the unsold bag to Ann's, and it's possible they would retake them. However, once items fall off the front page there, I think they have less chance of selling, so posting with a bad photo in the first place compromises the listing so much that we haven't bothered to ask for a retake, and Ann's clipped responses didn't exactly suggest she would welcome any such suggestions.

They also did something weird with the sold bag's payment that didn't follow their stated guidelines on their site, which my husband was following scrupulously. It's a long story so I won't type it all out unless someone asks for the details. It got sorted out in the end, but initially they wanted to charge us a fee for their not following their own guidelines. It was off-putting to say the least.

I had a whole list of bags I'm parting with to send them, but wanted to start with a couple as trial balloons, and between our lukewarm experience and the other outright negative experiences being reported here I'm keeping an eye on this thread for possible better options. With major resellers like Ann's seemingly going downhill, eBay filled with fraudsters, and Marketplaza barely moving, it's a challenge!

Please allow others to relate their experience. It may be an isolated experiance etc, but it is hers and just as valid, TY

THIS. same experience. I have sold many items over the years, whether through eBay or elsewhere, rarely using consignors. I do know how to price things and take photos and my expectations are very realistic.

I sent three items to Ann’s last year. The crazy thing is - not one of them sold. For two of the items, the photos were genuinely bad. Of course you should show flaws, but you should not exaggerate them under terrible lighting.

The first piece was pristine but apparently they don’t know that the handle can be adjusted so they made it look misshapen in the photos. I took it back after a month and sold it myself within a week or two for the same price she had it listed for - using my own photos. The last piece I just got back yesterday. They did not send the box back. The ribbon I had tied around the box was stored inside the item. I was actually worried what it would look like because the photos were terrible. I forgot how gorgeous it is. I may keep it, but I’m certain with my own photos I could do better than she did.

I will say in my experience they are very responsive and always pleasant. I just think she does very well with very particular items and maybe not so much with other things.

She can discuss her experience. Im sorry if I came across that way. But i can express mine also. I'm hoping that we hear from the other side, but I doubt.
Let's not forget that AFF is a small business owner and there is nothing that she wants more than a happy customer. She loves what she does.
I'm on OG on this forum and at one time was frequent poster and contributor. Hearing others experiences does help. It has been discussed before how fun it was in the "old days." Now I lurk and rarely post in the designer forums. I post all this reluctantly now as I knew I would be chastised. But sometimes you have to stick up for the hard working, honest business woman.

I had a similar experience with Kerry Taylor this side of the pond though not any H beyond a pair of embroidered slippers that were too small for me. Her employees are very nice but have to defer every decision to KT who basically seems to enjoy belittling everything brought in. This is after sending them detailed pics and a full spec description and being told to bring the things in. After I'd fixed a reserve (in writing) the price changed from per item to a job-lot in a follow-up email (having consulted KT).

I also saw the way the items were 'viewed', prospective buyers handling bags and textiles rather than being shown, it looked like a free-for-all on the first day of a bargain sale. There'd be no guarantee of getting the items back in the mint condition they'd arrived in. I think that freaked me out even more than the reserve re-set at silly prices.

I changed my mind and asked for everything back. I got a full-on email rant, talk of charging me for photos and their time (what time? What about my time?) but they completely broke their own rules and those governing UK auction houses, they, of course had no option but to let me have my stuff back, I subsequently decided to cancel my account completely. It left the bitterest taste in my mouth ever, umeboshi plums sweet by comparison.

I am glad that some people explained why they had problems with AFF rather than just referring to miscommunication costing me money. That could be anything.
I sold a non-H (but expensive) bag through AFF. When I saw the listing photos, I was not happy. I called and discussed my concerns and the photos were retaken. Problem solved and the bag sold.

As several people have pointed out, none of these services is perfect. There are pros and cons to each. I have used eBay, real real and Ann’s fabulous finds. I went with Ann’s fabulous finds for these two bags and agreed to pay a higher commission because it is a busy time for me and I wanted a stress free experience. I did in fact correspond with Ann’s to try to resolve the problem. I can assure you that I did in fact receive correspondence about a Bolide rather than a chanel bag. My advice is simply to be very careful about the details. Read every email carefully. Don’t assume. Make sure you clarify anything ambiguous. Slow down and ask questions. Review your listing carefully when it appears. (They do not tell you when it is going live so you will have to keep checking yourself.) Ann’s is not the stress free concierge type service that I had experienced in the past, so for me I do not think it’s worth the high commission going forward. But for everyone and every sale the equation differs.

AFF is a trusted reseller I will give her that however, as EmileH pointed out the dysfunctional staff leads to many errors that cost consigners. I have experienced this and will no longer consign with them.

Thank you both for sharing your experiences, it is very helpful to me. We all value different things in dealing with the reselling process. I value a stress-free experience and a guarantee that the terms I agree to will be followed through with, so it is important to me to know every experience so that I can weigh my risks and benefits. I have sold my items almost exclusively with Ann's in the past, but not more recently than last year, so it is helpful to hear more recent experiences.

Hi all,

After all the googling, I still not find many suggestions about birkin resale in NYC.

Here is the story: I recently got a b25 but ended up want to exchange to others b (women hahah)

So I looked up website, only find and try:
Madison Avenue Couture-emailed them a week ago but still has not replied
Janefinds-replied me immediately but asked me to call them, now I am too lazy to call (prefer email contact)
What Goes Around Comes Around-asked me for detailed photo and estimating price
Rebag-just submitted my request and will get response in two days according to the email

Any more resale physical stores in NYC?

Thank you [emoji173]️
