I'm going to echo the mixed feelings on AFF. I have found them very nice to potential buyers and friendly enough when one is looking to consign, but had a similar experience to many here: I did not feel my bags were described or photographed well, and they did not sell. One sold elsewhere for same pricing, the other at a slightly lower price.

Hi all,

After all the googling, I still not find many suggestions about birkin resale in NYC.

Here is the story: I recently got a b25 but ended up want to exchange to others b (women hahah)

So I looked up website, only find and try:
Madison Avenue Couture-emailed them a week ago but still has not replied
Janefinds-replied me immediately but asked me to call them, now I am too lazy to call (prefer email contact)
What Goes Around Comes Around-asked me for detailed photo and estimating price
Rebag-just submitted my request and will get response in two days according to the email

Any more resale physical stores in NYC?

Thank you [emoji173]️

Fashionphile just opened a physical store in NYC ... Madison Ave around 75th

I'm going to agree on the mixed feelings, I think the team is very sweet via email and during the sending of consignment items but I had an issue with the way one of my shawls was described with lots of pilling, the photos show no pilling and minimal fluff but when I asked for it to be revised-the reply I got was not exactly friendly and they did not change the description. Unsurprisingly, it never sold and this thread reminded me to ask for it back so thanks guys!

I haven't posted on here in a while but wanted to share some positive experiences with The Real Real. I've tried sending them items over the last year, not all H but a few H bracelets, a Herbag and some silks and I've been very pleased with how quickly my items move with them.

Looking back to compare I would say the net proceeds on the items are a bit higher than a Fashiophile buyout price and a little lower thanAnn's but if you don't want things to sit for quite a while I think they're worth a try. Also the shipping box they send is really helpful, I never have boxes to ship things in.

Also, I didn't agree with a price on a piece of fine jewelry and they shipped it back immediately-no questions asked which was nice. I think I did have $10 shipping fee for that but it was easy.

I'm so sorry to hear you did not feel comfortable posting your own experiences.:flowers:This is where I get all my info on resellers and it saddens me that people don't feel ok with sharing negative experiences. I feel they are the ones that really count!

Look back and see the initial reaction to my post (not by you [emoji255]). Is it any wonder that people are afraid to post? (Thank you to the moderator for stepping in.)

I have consigned with AFF & the RR. My Chanel things, some shoes, & Cartier watches to AFF thinking she is the 'gold standard' of luxury resellers', TRR for shoes. Never bought from either. Reading the above comments, I may begin sending my higher priced things to TRR. I like their shipping policies though AFF has relaxed theirs somewhat. TRR things seem to move quicker. I had no disappointing experiences with AFF though I must admit I am pretty easy when it comes to pricing. I Agree their pictures could be better.
It helps to read others experiences. It gives an updated, realistic view of these consignment sellers.

Sorry to hear that you have felt uncomfortable here too.:flowers:I have had similar experience as well. I don't know how to change it but I hope we can come to a solution that doesn't need a Mod intervention anytime someone has an opposing opinion.:flowers:

If you send to TRR, be VERY sure you are comfortable with having them price things haphazardly. I made the mistake of sending them a couple of McQueen evening gowns, which they classed as "maxi dresses" and sold at $200 each (leaving me with next to nothing for each of them). I was livid. And they had already posted them by the time they advised me of their pricing, so there was nothing I could do about it, since they sold INSTANTLY (no doubt to someone delighted to get multi-thousand dollar pieces for peanuts). I had familiarized myself with their prices for similar evening gowns before shipping them off, and was fine with having them listed between 700-1200, which was what I was seeing on their site. The idea that they would be so thick as to be unable to tell the difference between a maxi dress and a formal gown did not occur to me.

Clueless pricing is the reason they are good to buy from-- I've gotten ridiculous steals from them, although you have to be sure you can authenticate for yourself because they've been flagged on this forum for selling fakes, and relisting said fakes remorselessly after being alerted-- but clueless pricing is very, very bad from the seller side!

I thought about consigning some Chanel suits & clothing with TRR. Their quote was much lower than I expected so I kept my things. Better to sit in my closet hardly or never worn. The shoes I sent them did not get much. I felt it was better than cluttering my closet since I did not wear them anymore.
I will be careful going forward with anything I sell regardless of Consignor. I transitioned my handbag collection a few years ago to a different line (Hermes). While I do not use My Chanels, I don't want to sell them for a ridiculously low price.

I guess no consignment company is perfect. Personally, when I browse TRR, FP and Yoogis, I find their photos are really bad and limited to the point of no way of authenticating. Had one quotation for a bag from Yoogi's which was so low it was laughable. The same bag was later sold with AFF for more than double of Yoogi's quote.

Several points on AFF based on my limited experience:

1. They don't tell you when your item will appear on their site and there is no way of reviewing the description before hand. They will tell you it will take about 2-3 weeks between they receive it and listing is up. But you need to be on top of their game and ask them when it will appear. Once your item appears on their site, you can review and ask them to change the description but they are fairly firm in their condition report. e.g. if you think something is mint but they don't, they won't change it.
2. But they will change the price. AFF will recommend a price range but ultimately you decide how much you want it on for. They will confirm the price before they list. You can subsequently decide when to reduce and by how much.
3. Unless for some really popular designers and styles, they don't really do buy-out option.
4. Once the bag is sold, pay-out is fairly quick. They have payment cycles but for high value items, if you email them, they will pay outside their cycle.

Thanks for your observations. AFF also confirms the price with me before listing. I never gave an alternate amount. Felt she knew better about pricing than me
I find the Consignor Dashboard difficult to access
