Please don't buy things for this eBay seller pk0966, bought a CDC Hermes belt but is fake. Ask for refund but no reply.

I believe this belt was authenticated earlier, in the Authenticate Hermes Accessories thread. Perhaps you can post a few more images over in that thread, now that it is in your possession, just to be certain. Was it obvious to you that there was a problem, or has the belt been rejected by Hermes for spa treatment?

Of course if you have concerns you should start by contacting the seller, as you have done. If there is no response, you can contact eBay and open a case.

Hi

I authenticated this CDC belt on May 20th 2011 on the 'Authenticate this Hermes Accessory' thread further to a request from tPF member tumismom - see link to thread below.

http://forum.purseblog.com/authenti...rules-use-format-412024-330.html#post18997863

The belt was been re-listed several times until it sold on the 12th July 2011 under eBay item number 130541965944. At the time of authentication the eBay item number was 130522228696.

It was my conclusion at the time that this CDC belt is authentic Hermes. I have looked at the photographs of this item, as provided in the eBay listing, again today and I am still of the same opinion.

This belt dates to 1992 (V in circle Blindstamp), it is not brand new, it is 19 years old. It will not be identical to the contemporary article for a number of reasons, for example the way in which Hermes make many of their items today falls short of the standard of that of older/vintage items. Different markings/stamps/engravings and production techniques have varied over the years and the decline in standard of craftsmanship at Hermes, both of which are well documented on the Hermes forum, will have a bearing. However, these differences in the same model of item continually confuse buyers and Hermes sales personnel alike, as they use the contemporary article for comparison and declare and older/vintage item fake incorrectly.

It is very difficult to authenticate items from photographs alone and it is very different from being able to hold the item in your hands and inspect it thoroughly. However we do our best to help members with their authentication requests. I do not expect to be correct 100% of the time and to that end I place a waiver/disclaimer to this effect on all authentications I carry out on tPF.

I have some concern that the feedback for this item (130541965944) left for this seller by the buyer, I assume you, was a positive rating as left on the 17th July 2011 as shown below.

Best seller ever!!! xxxxxxxx ( 21) 17-Jul-11 09:47

If you have concerns about the authenticity of this CDC please post on the Hermes accesssories authentication thread with your own photographs of this item so we can take another look as suggested by Perigord. This would be the recommended course of action prior to declaring an item fake and damaging a bonafide sellers reputation in haste on a public forum. I have no issue with 'name and shame' on the proviso those outed are found, without question, to be truly shameful.

Yes, I have reported it to eBay and paypal. Is under investigation, the seller refused my refund and return. The CDC belt is obvious not genuine as the turning loop permanent fixed and then the belt can bent easily. My bad luck week, thought small amount shouldn't be a problem but giving more headache. Thanks for sharing with me.

Not sure what the problem is as I'm not sure I understand what you're saying ... belt as pictured looks authentic to me, too.

I had made a post because the belt had looked authentic to me as well. The only way you can ever be certain that a belt is authentic or not is to take it to your boutique for repair or refurbishing. I would suggest that route before reporting a seller here, just to be certain and to be fair. Thank you!!

I have sincerely apologies to everyone, please understand I went through hell with thelombok and lost confidence in everything. I will sincerely apologies to the seller as well.

Thank you so very much for graciously taking the time to retract your comments about the belt you got from pk0966.

The first time I got something from eBay (not Hermes, and about a hundred years ago in the "dark ages" of eBay) I remember being so panicked about the authenticity issues. Knowing you had just had a bad experience with a different seller, I understand the lack of confidence that might have caused you to question the good belt that came from pk0966. It is great to take the time to make a post here, correcting your comments.

When something truly goes wrong (or right!), this is a terrific thread to use, to spread useful information about sellers.

The problem happens when incorrect information is added, since anyone doing a search of a seller name will find all posts. I have added the seller's name here--pk0966--so future readers will see there has been a correction!

Again, all my thanks for making the correction so nicely. I am so glad that you now have more confidence in your belt. It is lovely--enjoy it!
