Treatment in Hermes Stores

Based on observation from my local boutique, the clients who try to force a relationship with the end goal of a B/K/C and nothing else are treated as pure cash cows. I'm not sure whether a minimum spend to get quota bags is instituted here but based on my experiences, there are times I get offers so early in the year that I haven't spent anything near the (oft quoted) minimum.

The clients who are only jonesing for a quota bag are basically told they have to spend $xxxxx to get what they want. From a SA point of view, I fully understand this because they know that once these clients get their bag, they'll never set foot in the boutique again. That's not for me but if someone is happy to drop that kind of cash to get what they want, more power to them!

Everyone calls shopping at Hermes a game, but I feel like if you're truly interested in the brand and wish to shop there long term, it's not a game and it's quite enjoyable. I'm very honest with my SA with what I want, and I never feel pressured to purchase. I've been shopping with the same SA for 15 years so he understands me well (a little tooooooooo well [emoji81]), and we've developed a pretty nice relationship. Our jabs/jokes at each other shock other SA's - they couldn't fathom saying what my SA says to me to other clients.

As I see you post with great knowledge and experience esp regarding leathers, you too must be a long term customer of Hermes. Perhaps you and @ladysarah could be persuaded to share how your journey with Hermes went. It would after all be very helpful for readers here. @PJW5813 :heart:

Thank you for your compliment. I will simply state that over thirty years ago it started with a silk tie (not a kiss) in New Bond Street. Hermes was then just a purveyor of desirable luxury goods. The journey has proceeded with calmness, enthusiasm, politeness and lack of emotional baggage.

I totally agree with this post, I can see it happening on this forum as we post. This is fine too, as long they are aware on both sides. The good thing is the sharing of different experiences here helps.

I wish people understood this more. No matter how chummy an SA is with you, they aren't your best friend, and should not be held to that level. People need to realize they're just doing their jobs (and don't need gifts for it - a question I often read on these forums that makes me cringe).

My approach to H is to have absolutely zero expectations. If something I ask for shows up, it's a pleasant surprise. If it doesn't, life goes on.

Anybody can recommend a good sa at Madison Avenue ? I have a good one at Wall Street but there selection is limited but very good . I am kind of working with at Wall Street but not very found of the person . Please direct message me . Thank you

If you are enjoying shopping at Wall Street and you know of something that is not there, your SA should be able to locate it and get it in for you without any obligation if it is available or tell you where you can get it.

Ugh total typo ! I like my SA in Wall Street , but the Madison Avenue location is much closer to me . So I am looking for suggestions on good sales associate at Madison . It’s easier to get to . Wall Street takes longer and to get an Uber back you have to walk a few blocks up . It gets annoying . Also I was told that they can’t always can’t check other stores inventory. Also the sales person I have on Madison Avenue I really don’t care for . She has ignored my emails on many occasions and also always stares at me when I come in . Just not a good fit .

Perhaps they are not able to check other stores' inventories in US, but they certainly can and often do it for me in all the London stores.

Just go to another SA in Madison Avenue. Surely someone is going to smile on you.

That SA has probably seen your multiple threads/posts arbitrarily grading the NYC boutiques.

I found the Madison Ave store to be hit or miss. Sometimes I get good service, but other times I wonder if perhaps they can smell poverty. Wall St. may be smaller and a bit out of the way, but now I just prefer going there because they're always so nice to everyone who walks in.
I eco you! Just went to both Madison Ave and Wall (Broad) Street stores hunting for a couple spring scarves, and received a completely different service: wecomy and warm downtown but totally a cold shoulder uptown! The only reason I ever visit Madison Ave store is because it usually has broader inventory.

Your Wall Street SA should certainly be able to whip out his/her H-Pad and check other stores’ inventory while you wait. I have had that done for me in that boutique (my SA is in a different location now).
