Treatment in Hermes Stores

I just had a mini Oprah experience at a store. I asked if a particular item came in a different size. She said "Yes but it's $800 and I don't think you want to spend that much." Excuse me????? (and actually I don't now).
you could probably have know by his/her manner when he/she said this, but sometime friends-to-friends could give this kind of familiarity advise to each other? in what kind of manner was this phrase given to you?

Well perhaps you are all right and she was just stating that's its overpriced. I think I am just fed up with the arrogance over there.

I believe you. I believe you b/c I was looking at some bling at an antique show and expressed interest in seeing a particular bracelet and the vendor said ,"Oh, that's David Webb! You can't afford that." I never forgot that.

The flip side to the dismissiveness of this comment is that (and this is a cynical interpretation) he could (consciously or not) try to manipulate me so that I'd say to myself, "I''ll show him! I'll buy the darn thing!" I can imagine sales have been made that way.

I do agree that you should report the SA. She had no business making any sort of judgment. Very tacky.

^ Thank you. And come to think of it, I was so startled I didn't INSIST on having her show me the item anyway because I knew at that point I was so turned off. Why did she even bring the price up to begin with? I never asked how much it was. I simply wanted to see another size. And I did have that thought for a second "I should buy one anyway just to show her." But that's just silly.

I think today was my last visit to this location once and for all.

That's awful! One of my friends used to work in a clothing store while she was at university that sold a lot of expensive high end designers. She said that some of the richest people who came in and would spend the most amount of money in the shop were very casually dressed when they came in and you could not tell they had money.

I'm not implying or insinuating that either one of you weren't nicely dressed when you had your experiences, I am simply using that example to illustrate that SAs should never make judgments of people.

It also reminds me of the story from the documentary "Scatter my ashes at Bergdorfs" about a lady that came in in the 1970s or 1980s looking very dishevelled and almost homeless but then ended up buying one of their most expensive fur coats.

It's very disappointing when SAs are judgmental or arrogant and make people feel belittled. Completely ruins what should be a lovely experience.

Thank you for your comment, you are right!

That's so good to hear. I had the same experience there yesterday. It is sad when it is a surprise to get good treatment.[/QUOTE]

I even told them, that "this is the best treatment I ever had", and I didn't even have any Hermes @ that time.

Hello!! I'm super new to Hermes but with my first purchase I've had a problem that kind of deters me from wanting to go back to the brand, well at least that store in particular. I went into the Hermes closest to me to get a few twilly's for the bag I recently purchased. I found one I liked but asked about locating the other they didn't have in store. We did locate it and she said she would do a charge send. Fine. I was happy. It was supposed to be to me in two days. I ordered it last Thursday, so when I hadn't received it as of yesterday I decided to call. Come to find out the store who was supposed to ship it out was having "fax problems" and never received my order. It is now going to take almost a week and a half for me to get my twilly! Is this normal behavior with Hermes?!? Everyone talks so highly about them but why didn't she check or make sure the order went through? Has this happened to anyone else? Thank you so much for your help!! [emoji171]

Ashlie, it's within expected range [emoji13]

I feel that when you buy a high-end item, you're also paying for service. We all know the retail price of the bag has nothing to do with its actual cost--yes, it's a higher level of craftsmanship, it's better quality, there's at least the idea that the bags will last for decades if treated right, the history resonates with us and the designs are beautiful, and I'm not dismissing that.

But when I plunk down thousands of dollars for something that I could easily get a cheaper version of, what I'm also paying for is assurance. I want to be taken care of as a customer, and that should mean that the transaction is not only seamless but pleasant. Excellent customer care is a value-added service that justifies the price tag of the bag. If I'm not getting that, then I take my business elsewhere.

I don't meant that it's okay to go into a store and make demands or expect to be waited on hand and foot, but neither do I expect to have to follow up on purchases, ask to be served or be treated strictly as a wallet.

I've experienced excellent customer care from a wide range of services and stores for items priced both high and low. Life's too short to stress about shopping.

I'd like to throw a plug out there for the Washington, DC City Center store- as a younger woman who is often dressed casually, I rarely get SAs falling over themselves to help me right off the bat. I walked in to the store this morning in jeans and a tank top, and all the SAs could not have been kinder or more helpful. One took me around the store, showed me everything from scarves to jewelry to shoes and even enquired after my bag wish list without my asking. For those of you who live close enough to visit this store regularly, I envy you!

I visited Hermes in BH im surprised they all greated me with a smile, and ask what i want to see,and if i need help... the best treatment I ever had so far....

Had an excellent treatment at Hermes BH despite not buying anything. An SA quickly greeted me and asked if I needed help.

They are actually very lovely at BH. It hasn't always been the case, but since they rebuilt the store, and Julie is no longer manager, and they've added some very mellow salespeople - I think it's a surprisingly warm store, all the way to the parking attendant (please tip him :D).
