Treatment in Hermes Stores

I suppose the question then is, do other stores treat you like this as well?

As a young-ish female, I have to admit when I walk into most high end stores I feel like I have to try harder to "prove my worth" by showing my brand knowledge etc, and I think this is largely because of my age (and them probably thinking I'm not going to be a worthwhile customer). I find I'm looked down upon alot in Chanel- much more so than any Hermes. I have also received awful, snobby service in many mid to high range clothing boutiques.

Of course, as soon as you buy something in any store, the customer service miraculously seems to improve, because they now know you're worth their effort

I have to say that as a younger shopper, I've received significantly worse treatment at several Hermes boutiques than at any other high-end store. This includes waiting 15+ minutes to be greeted and asked if I need help, while the SAs are not doing anything (chatting with each other, walking around adjusting display bags slightly, etc.), and watching several SAs rush to help an older, more dressed-up customer the minute that customer walked over. At other high-end stores, I am at least greeted and assisted within a couple minutes...

You have my sympathy. I remember this from when I was younger. Looking younger than my age then didn't help either. I hope your experiences improve and that you find a good SA to build a relationship with. It makes ALL the difference!

Well if it is any consolation, before finding an SA that I clicked with I too was ignored more often than not. I am older and mostly well dressed. Now they know me at my local Hermes store and I am greeted promptly. Once they get to know you I am sure you will get better service.

Awww, I'm sorry to hear you're treated like this. I can totally relate - this is exactly how I'm treated every time I step into a Chanel store (which consequently isn't often at all). It's just sooo rude!!! I agree with what other people have said - I think the staff in Hermes just need to get to know you, and then you will be treated much more warmly :smile1: For most designer stores, it's almost like you have to prove your "worth" to them. If you go in often, make purchases etc, they will quickly realise that you're worth investing their time in. It's annoying, but sadly that's the way the world is :hrmm:

Feel the same way as Meg. I shop at two Hermes boutiques, one on the West Coast, and the other on the East Coast. At first, it was a daunting experience. But over time, I found an SA in each with whom I formed strong relationships and have been content ever since. Just takes time and patience.

I often feel like I have to be dressed up and the most polite version of myself when I walk into Hermes. Having said that, I have always been met with nothing but kindness when in the boutique. If a sales person is rude, it's more about them than you!
:smile1:

I ventured out to the Beverly Hills Hermes boutique today for the first time. I was greeted promptly and the SA couldn't have been nicer. He showed me all the departments, answered all my questions and helped me on every floor. He even found a good restaurant for me to try as I was leaving and not familiar with the area. I couldn't have been happier with the service.

I just had a mini Oprah experience at a store. I asked if a particular item came in a different size. She said "Yes but it's $800 and I don't think you want to spend that much." Excuse me????? (and actually I don't now).

I consdier myself as an "easy going" customer, but this comment could be very rude and unacceptable if means the wrong way... Are you sure maybe what she really meant was "$800 is not worth for the value of the item/size?" I had SA "stop" me from buying too many on sale leather jackets before... Not becuse she thought I did not have money but in real I did not need two identical jackets in different color...:D
