Treatment in Hermes Stores

I disagree (and I think many other people on here will too)! My SA & SM are so kind, helpful and lovely. I've never had a bad experience at my store. In other countries I have encountered SAs who are less friendly, but I've had experiences like that in many stores other than Hermes!

+1...

SA may not cheering the moment I walk in when I first started my H journey, but no one treated me with cold shoulder either and I have visited many H boutiques.

As a younger male, I do have to say I have never been greeted warmly at an Hermes store. Nearly every time I've walked into a new store I'm treated as if I'm breaking into on a secret club. Once the SA realizes that I (probably) know significantly more than him / her about the brand (i.e. I know the secret handshake), the dynamic changes a little bit. ;-)

Now that I frequent a couple different stores, I have a fun rapport with different SAs / SMs.

The NYC men's store will probably always feel a little too "fratty" for me and the main store across the street will always be cold ... The exception there is the lovely, young French craftsperson who makes my heart skip a beat. [emoji6][emoji173]️

I suppose the question then is, do other stores treat you like this as well?

As a young-ish female, I have to admit when I walk into most high end stores I feel like I have to try harder to "prove my worth" by showing my brand knowledge etc, and I think this is largely because of my age (and them probably thinking I'm not going to be a worthwhile customer). I find I'm looked down upon alot in Chanel- much more so than any Hermes. I have also received awful, snobby service in many mid to high range clothing boutiques.

Of course, as soon as you buy something in any store, the customer service miraculously seems to improve, because they now know you're worth their effort

I have been treated coldly by a Chanel SA when I first bought my 2.55 Jumbo Reissue years ago - answered half-heartedly and not even pretending to show interest- but once she realised I was actually buying she became my new best friend in a split second. Sigh....I was young then..if that were to happen to me now I would probably ask for another SA to her face.

I found Chanel stores can be haughty at times. And disorganized. I experienced good service at Hermes. I would have thought H would be more pretentious.
I don't care now. Every customer should be important. Looks can be deceiving.

Well I thought would just share my recent experience at the Toronto store. I don't shop in store often because I have mobility issues and I find shopping quickly tiring so I typically order on line. I just received a scarf (GM summer twill) and a bracelet that I ordered on line. I discovered a flaw in the scarf (first time ever) and the bracelet was a 65 and tight and so I since I had to return the scarf to the store for an exchange I thought I would see if 70 size bracelet would fit me better.

I was promptly greeted and the lady explained she was just finishing up with a client but would be with me shortly. I waited - a little longer than I would have liked but I find the Toronto store is always busy (I don't even bother going on weekends).

Anyways, when she got to me I showed her the problem with the scarf and she was very understanding and there was no problem about an exchange. She then showed me a 70 size in the bracelet I had ordered but I ultimately decided to stick with the 65.

While I was there, I spotted Flamingo Party maxi twilly in CW which I hadn't seen online, so I asked to see it, which she showed and I purchased it. I also asked about the 70 silk Savana Dance which I wanted but didn't like the CWs available on line. She didn't know Savana Dance which surprised me since I believe this is a popular scarf of the current season, but we found a couple and I bought one.

Then I asked about the Panthera Pardus cashmere shawls. I didn't see any on display so I asked if they were available. She said no and that she didn't know when they would be getting them in - which I can accept but I was waiting and wanting for her to say - "I would be happy to give you call when they arrive" - but nothing. If the roles were reversed, that's what I would have done.

The few times I've been to the store, the staff has always been polite but I always leave feeling rather underwhelmed. Maybe its because I don't shop in person regularly?

At least this time the SA gave me her business card - which is a first. So maybe progress is being made.

Maybe she didn't offer to call you because she might forget, but gave you the opportunity to check in with about it at a later time since she gave you her card?

That maybe true - the card just has the general store number and I think you have to leave a message and hope someone gets back to you. I guess I'm just comparing my experience with Louis Vuitton. I used to buy alot LV, (not anymore now), but the first day I walked in and bought a bag, I got the SA's card with his email and cell and he regularly sent me emails of new items that were in store if thought I would like them. Its not that I've had bad experiences shopping at the Toronto store, its just given the Hermes brand I guess I have higher expectations and so I always feel leaving a bit underwhelmed by the whole experience.

My H journey started about 1.5 years ago...

Back in my home country, it was so hard to tap into the "in-group". I work hard for my money and I want to buy the things I love in Hermes. But I cannot get the help that I desire. Then I gave up, till one day my husband wanted to exchange one of his item, he went in and met a lovely SA. He came home and told me "dearie, you got to meet her." A few days later I made a trip to the store to find her and we hit it off ever since. My home SA is a gem and I love her! Ever since den, I am always treated with kindness. I believe it works both ways.

For my first trip to Paris, I visited all 3 stores. I got emotionally hurt by an SA in George V as all she wanted was to make me go back everyday for who knows what reason and trying to force me to buy stuff I do not need. In FSH, it was very systematic and if you need a certain item you just need to queue at the respective department. However if you get to know just the right person, magic can happen. In sevres, it was an amazing experience too as I love the design of the store and how spacious it is. I love how I can browse in the store and every trip made me really happy. The SA in sevres is amazing as they always make me feel welcome.

I did not score any B or K in my first trip to Paris but I manage to get a L. I was disappointed at first but happy as I love my bag.

My subsequent 2 trips to Paris have been amazing. I am not a big spender buying crocs or jewellery but I can only offer them my sincerity.

I just came back from Paris and with every store i head to, finding the familiar faces, I am always offered drinks and a place to rest while I wait. I am very touched and grateful. I just have to thank my lucky stars.

Our SAs meet so many people everyday. And they stand most of the time. I worked retail before when I was much younger. It's not easy. They are humans like just like us.
