Treatment in Hermes Stores

At my local Hermes, I have found that the staff members are even incredibly helpful and nice or extremely rude.

For example..I was in Hermes two and a half years ago, asking for a CDC with gold hardware & crocodile leather. I asked an SA, and she rudely stated that "there are NO CDC crocs that come with SOLID GOLD hardware." I did not mean solid gold nor did I imply that...I just meant the gold instead of silver hardware! She walked away before I could even explain myself. Needless to say, the next time I went to Hermes I didn't even look in her direction.

The next time, I was in the store and wanted to try on both the enamels and the Clic Clacs. I got a wonderful sales associate who understood that my trip for that day was simply for trying on (I was on a self-imposed ban that month!) she was extremely friendly and sat and talked with me about every bracelet in the store! From that day on, she has been my go to SA

I know what you mean. It's the same in my city. When they're good, they're really good... when they're bad, they're horrid.

Visited local hermes store and had saved several thousands was looking either for bag or nice CDC.
For me horrible experience first SA didn't know anything (apparently she started last week) she couldn't even unlock the draw was struggling with the keys . Even couldn't tell me the leathers.
Second one another Chinese women very stroppy and just answering yes or no. I thought after that forget it. For fun asked her about birkin she said they don't take any names list are full.
Than the the third one the old women just said we don't have Lindi.
I thought after this no more hermes rather buy online if eventually sty strikes me but design is not very breath taking only materials and stitching is good
So disappointed don't think I ever want to walk into the butique

While there are plenty of lovely SAs around the world but it seems more are not interested in making efforts. Out of all luxury brands I've shopped with H has the most inconsistent customer service; while brands like Bottega Veneta, Dior has always provided me with five star service and I'm not even a regular. I love H and it will always have a special place in my heart, but my desire to buy H has gone down to lukewarm.
I wish I had a like button for your quote I totally agree with you. While I love Hermes products trying to actually buy them is a nightmare leaving me feeling frustrated and angry at times. My nearest store is a hundred miles away from where I live and getting there is difficult but that doesnt seem to make a jot of difference to Hermes. I've bought a few things from the Hermes website but it's not the same as going into a store and seeing and trying the objects you desire only to find out they havnt got it!

I think if your Hermes is far away from you and it's a drive to get there, it can be VERY frustrating. The stock is usually spotty and there's no guarantee the item you want will be there. I am very lucky and live only a 15 minute drive away and so have the luxury to stop by whenever I want so it doesn't bother me as much.

My experience with shopping has been that when I was a new customer and the SAs did not know me well, they were pretty unfriendly. I could sometimes browse the store for 10 minutes without anyone speaking to me. But once I started to buy things (silks, bracelets, etc.) and the SAs recognized me as a buyer (not looky loo), they warmed up really quick. Now I am greeted like I am an old friend when I come to the store. Even the security guards know me and chit chat with me.

Now I'm not saying this is right because even if you are just looking and admiring the lovely items, I think you should still be treated well. But I guess it's the way the world works.

Thanks for the info. I am always hesitate to make hermes purchase on its website. But store hardly carry the items I want. So I go whenever I can, keep my finger crossed and wait patiently. In the beginning I got kind of anxious but I tried to calm down now. Hermes is the brand you really have to have the patient waiting, I supposed. I'm just gonna wait.

Yup, they are like that. From my past experiences, They usually don't come to you, you have to make eye contact, then they will come. But once you started buying stuffs, you can have few sales rep that you are their client, they will approach you nicely and efficiently.

Yesterday I went into the Tysons Corner store and had a pleasant shopping experience. It was my first time at this location, so I did not expect anyone to come over.

I was pleasantly surprised when a friendly-looking SA (Cameron) came over within 5 minutes of my browsing through the silks. He quietly let me know that he would be happy to help whenever I was ready, and then stepped back to let me continue shopping. In my opinion this is the best kind of "first contact" at a store. He let me see and hold whatever I wanted, and he was happy to look for things that weren't on display.

I wasn't in fancy clothes either, so I don't think that was a factor. I will admit that I was carrying a nice purse and I did walk in with some confidence. Oh, and this location offers free valet parking for customers, but we parked our car ourselves.

Thank you everyone for sharing their tips!

I'm so upset!! I bought the wrong size H belt for my boyfriend at the Vienna store. It seems his size is around 105 and this one is 115.
It was so hard to get my hands on this one and they eventually called me once they had it available.
So now I have to ask them to find me a smaller one - oh and not to mention their return policy is 7 days and Christmas is in like 10 days. It's a total mess I hope they'll be able to get me a smaller size.
I feel bad about it but has anyone else had to do exchanges? Are they nice about it?

I have only exchanged one item in the past and my SA was lovely. Are you certain the return policy is only 7 days? In US it is now 30 days... but used to be 10 days. If you have a boutique near you, call and explain the situation to them. Perhaps they can obtain the proper size before Christmas as deliveries are more frequent this time of year. Good luck!

Thanks for your reply! Yes I thought it would be 30 days but the receipt says 7 which I only realized after the purchase.
Alternatively I could ask them to punch a whole in it but for that he needs to be in the store with me to get the exact size, and they won't be open on Christmas and that sucks if he can't wear it once he receives it soooo....
At least I hope they'll be friendly and helpful like they were to you :)

This is my local store so I'm glad you had a good experience there. I have also only had good experiences there so it was shocking to read about the horrors that some people experience in their store. I was there last week and I spoke with Cameron a little bit and I agree that he seemed like someone I would be happy to work with if I didn't already have an SA there.
