So what you're saying is that I should have bought a lottery ticket that day :) Didn't someone already won the mega millions? Let's hope I'll land a red K 28 soon!

Trust me, you've purchased the most difficult item to obtain. I have a search on ebay for "Hermes Strap" in the hope I'll find some straps for my Kellys. I've found a few over the years…but it has been years.

I'm sure the eagle eyes on tPF will gladly help you search for the perfect Red Kelly. Please reach out to Perlerare, as she is a Kelly specialist and finds wonderful bags.

Best of luck to you!!! Please post when you find your bag. We love to enable and to cheer on great purchases!!!

cdc is pretty hard to get in general and even if you do get one as well as a scarf I don't think u can order one .. bare in mind price in Singapore is more expensive than Europe and the only place to score a birkin relatively easier is Japan.

Thanks so much for replying ninunina ^___^ really aprreciated, actually my family are planning to go to Paris next June, but Paris is also difficult to get, maybe Japan is the alternative for both of them ^__^ wish me luck then?

Paris is all about luck .. Ask your parents to help you out on this one ..in FSH they tend to sell b/k to couples looking to buy for their daughter ..but it really depends on luck..June is a ok time to score ... I got one in June so you never know...

Not sure about japan I have never been to Japan before but i am sure other ladies here could give you more advise on Japan stores ..

And good luck with your hurting !!!!!! Don't forget to a reveal when you score your dream bag !!!

The SAs treat me kindly, of course, but the difficulty in buying is just too frustrating. I know it's not their fault but constantly being told "no" is too frustrating, it takes it from "thrill of the chase" to "what is the point?"

I agree. During one boutique visit last year I asked to see several "innocent" items (no Birkins or Kellys) and was repeatedly told that they didn't have the items. I wasn't asking for specific colors or designs, I just wanted to see what they did have in stock but the SA was not accommodating. I was ready, willing, and able to spend a tidy sum of money but ended up making a very small purchase. Shopping needn't be so difficult or stressful!

Since I do most of my Hermes shopping online I have not been able to maintain a relationship with an SA. The woman I was working with years ago is no longer there. I guess I should try to buy more from my local boutique but I'm not motivated to do so.

I've visited Hermes sloane str today and was served by a lovely sa, she was very helpful and accommodating! Showed me some wallets: Constance in black croc, bearn, silkin and a Kelly long wallet in plume (I think that's the name of the colour), unfortunately i was looking for a different colour, so I just got couple small presents.

I've been to Hermes @ Harrods and sloane str as well I find SAs there a bit arrogant :)

Hi all...

I have a quick question - I was fortunate enough to be able to purchase a B as a walk-in at a US boutique last year. Of course I made other purchases prior to asking about bag availability. The SA who helped me was very sweet and has kept in touch. She recently called me to ask if I will be traveling again this year and will be coming by the boutique (I will next month). She asked me to let her know prior to my visit if there are any bags in particular that I am looking for (there are - of course! :p).

What I am wondering is this - given that I made a lot of purchases there last year but have not purchased anything from that particular boutique this year (as I live in another country and do my day-to-day Hermes shopping here) would I be expected to purchase a number of items if I were offered a bag? Of course there are always lovely things that I can find in almost any boutique to purchase, but I have been prolifically collecting through my local boutique here this year and so would prefer not to purchase a bunch of 'extra' stuff in order to get a bag. That said, I think that this US boutique has better inventory than my local boutique.

Before contacting this lovely SA with a bag wishlist I just want to try and figure out exactly what might be expected of me should she find me a bag in time for my visit.

Any feedback or advice would be much appreciated!

Thank you! :smile1:

In almost any service industries, it works in a way that the bigger players get more priority, the same way in a restaurant where bigger tip payer get a better table. Generally speaking I feel it is the same way in H, its nothing personal. Its just business.

You know what, you just never know what you may be "required" to buy before being offered a coveted item. My suggestion is if you have smaller, easily attainable items that you have your eye on, perhaps save them and put it on the wish list for this store along with your coveted item. It may not help but it also can't hurt. Good luck. I hope you get some nice goodies!

It's really not good business.

If I am here holding money, and I am prepared to exchange money for an item you have, then good business is to sell me that item.

Holding that item, on the chance that someone else will buy that item, and more items, would be a riskier choice.

In the case of H, it works out, as there's always SOMEONE willing to buy it, but the best business practice is never to maintain too much inventory, which would mean selling first come, first serve.

For me as a customer, having to work too hard to buy from you is the worst you can do. It is not good for business to make your business rely on a smaller and smaller base of shoppers.

Well it seems like your SA is already willing to sell you a bag since she called to check if you are coming soon. The question then remains if she is also expecting you to buy more than just the bag. I don't think she'll refuse to sell the bag to you if you don't buy more items since she basically already offered to find one for you. However, it might be that she is not as accomodating next time you shop.

I have found that generally US SAs are more eager to sell (have never shopped at H though) than here in Sweden. It might be that in US, they get commision on every sale. I've even had SA at Neiman Marcus send me a Chanel bag from the US to here.

I'd never been into a H store before but popped into the one in Selfridges in London on Wednesday after standing outside for 10 mins my boyfriend pushed me in and i met the loveliest SA EVER! She was so friendly and chatty, even though i didn't buy anything she really made me feel welcome and offered lots of assistance! Great experience, just wish i got her name! :)

The SA's at H in Selfridges are the nicest I came across in London. Harrods is always too swamped and under staffed in H, and the H boutiques on Bond and Sloane have cold SA's IMO. When in London, I'd always choose to buy from the H in Selfridges and just browse the others.

I'm going to share my experience at Hermes Cleveland (Cuffs at Chagrin Falls)

Sorry to not making it shorter, but I think they deserve the full credit.

I have been trying to hunt down a B or K for the last few years for my wife for all her hard work at her study (MA and now PhD) and family (giving birth to our son, housework... etc)

But it was a mission impossible even though I always visit a H store if the city I traveled to had one. So I ended up buying many Hermes accessories (bracelets, necklaces and wrap/scarf) for my wife instead.

But persistence and patience really pay off!

I was going on a business trip to central OH and flights were getting cancelled left and right due to the snow. It was a meeting I couldn't afford to miss/reschedule, so I decided to make my 400miles journey there by driving.

As usual, I checked for H in major cities along the way because I actually needed to get a replacement necklace/pendant for my sister in-law (Cage D'Hermes) that I lost/misplaced two month ago during a family trip. Plus, an additional shot at my B/K hunt. To my surprise, there was this little privately owned Hermes shop!

I arrived to the store 10min after closing as I had to turtle my way there even leaving 1.5hr early. (complete white out) I met a great gentleman at the door sweeping the snow and asked him if they were still open by any chance.

The gentleman asked me what I wanted, I told him I was only trying to get a Hermes necklace. The nice gentleman told me to hurry and go find Nadia inside.

Once inside, I met Nadia, a very sweet girl who, even without knowledge to the particular necklace I was looking, show me many interesting pieces. However, I was only looking for that particular one since it's for a replacement after all.

Before leaving, I mentioned to her about getting a 35 Birkin for my wife as her PhD acceptance gift. Nadia told me that they didn't have any.BUT, they do have a 35 Kelly! I saw it and quickly told Nadia that I'd take it. It was the perfect bag for this occasion, a black Epsom Sellier Kelly, perhaps the most formal color/pattern I could have wished for.

Nadia took the bag and went to see another gentleman that seemed to be the owner/supervisor and told him about me getting it for wife's PhD admission gift. The gentleman was in a bit of shock (at least appeared to me) for me having made the decision that quick and even joked "you must have won the lottery!". He then took the bag upstair to have it packaged. While downstairs, Nadia took down my info in case they find the necklace I was looking. The gentleman came downstairs and told me that my wife was a very lucky lady and I was lucky to get that bag because they have just received it!

All in all, the service was amazing and the staffs have been nothing but excellent to me even though I was late to their store. I'm simply amazed by the extra effort they'd go to ensure the absolute best service for their patrons. This is an especially sharp contrast to the DC Hermes I visited few days later. I arrived half hour prior closing and got the Twilly my wife wanted to go with her new Kelly. Just when I was stepping out, (it was 3min past closing if remember correctly) a lady came to ask to pick up a single perfume for gift, the SA simply refused her entry.

Anyway, to all the gent/lady still hunting for your B/K out there, don't give up! You just need to be in the right place at the right time! And do visit Cuffs if you are near the area. Their service is AMAZING!!!

As for me, (or my wife more precisely) I'm now a proud owner of a beautiful 35 Kelly.
