Treatment in Hermes Stores

That's horrible, I would be sure to call the SM of the store and report the incident!

Thanks, Vigee! I did right after it happened. Management got involved and responded immediately to the incident. The whole thing really affected me since I hadn't had something happen like that since high school. I've just been nervous to return since that incident. It disgusted me so much and really put me off. I think I'm ready to try again, though!

That's good! Additionally, I would call the SM and request a referral for an SA and make an appointment with her for you to come in to the store.
I am so sorry that happened to you, do try again.

It's been months since I've been to my local H store. Last time I was there, a SA (who I've seen being rude with other customers before this incident) made fun of my speech impediment as I had trouble asking if my SA was in... I even told her I had a stutter and she still laughed in my face... Needless to say it was an awful experience and was eventually handled, but I haven't been in since. I've never been bullied that badly in a store, of all places. I'm heading back in for the first time in a few days (I *really* want a CDC and/or other bracelets) and I'm sort of nervous, hoping I'll have a good experience.

In general, I've had better experiences in NYC and especially at the stores in Vegas.

I agree. It's amazing how much experiences vary! It's so good to find someone that you connect with that will make the whole experience pleasant, as it should be.

This is appalling ... I have always found Madison to he helpful..

I will PM you the SA's that I work with...

Enjoy yourself

That's absolutely dreadful. Hope you have a better visit next time.

I find it shocking that a brand as prestigious and expensive as H has a thread this long and old discussing TREATMENT of customers at stores. I love H but I don't want any bag this bad to have some SA treating me badly - don't get me wrong, I approach everyone nice and friendly but when you get funny with me I won't take it just for the sake of buying xyz. I probably would hate the item if I didn't stand up for myself. the reseller's margin seems almost worth it.

ETA: I realise that people also reported great experiences but in my mind this shouldn't be something to report, this should be a given.

sorry for anyone's bad experiences!

Good points, lara!

Wow! It does sound so high school. Does this person even work there anymore? Good thing you reported. There should be no tolerance for such treatment.

Hear hear Lara. Hermes fans think it's an added bonus if they get nice treatment at the boutiques. Seriously??! When I enter such a high end boutique like H and end up getting crappy service, I would take my business elsewhere. I can understand if SAs tell lies because they want to reserve certain limited goods for their regular clients, but it doesn't mean they can treat the others whatever they like.
Some, or should I say, many SA really need to attend "customer service for dummies"
Just my 2 cents...

How awful! I'm so sorry this happened to you. Hopefully that SA was immediately fired!

To everyone here who had bad experiences in any Hermès Store. I know an ex-manager from Hermès (family friend). She worked there since 20 years here in Germany. When i told her the story she told me what to do if that happens, because when she was a manager being nice to every customer was self-evident. The Frankfurt store is one of the worst concerning customer service btw. unless you are from the right family. But that changed a bit now because many did now what she told me to do.

What you have to do if any Hermès SA is rude to you, not helpful, arrogant or lying to you. You speak to the Manager and complain and then you write a letter to Hermès in Paris telling what happened and with whom. You will get a letter back with an apology and that person will most likely be fired or very very nice the next time you enter the store. I know because i tried it, and that rude 20 yo old something girl that lied to me was fired later and i got a nice apology letter from Hermès Paris and only get good service from now on :smile1:

Here the story btw:

I went in to buy a Hermès Belt (I'm a guy btw.) I asked hat 20yo girl SA politely if they had any, the conversation went like this:

Me: Good Day, excuse me, would you happen to have any Hermès belts in stock?
SA: No. <rolling her eyes>
Me: Uh, well okay, do you know when you will get new ones delivered?
SA: No.
Me: Well, can you give me a call if they get delivered?
SA: No i can't do that.
Me: Okay, i'll look around then for clothes and come another time for belts, have a good day.
SA: Bye

<While walking around checking the guy clothes out i noticed an über-groomed man and his wife come in asking for belts>

Same girl SA said "Sure, follow me." and they walked up to a drawer which she opened which was stuffed with belts and belt buckles in all sizes! I was standing like 2 meters away!

Later that day i went in again to a nice asian SA who then sold me one.

I told my family-friend about this experience, she shaked her head and said that she hears that alot and when she worked as a manager that never happened and SAs always were very nice and helpful, no matter how you look and dress. She then told me to complain to the manager (she went with me) and write the letter.

And that arrogant liar of a girl got fired right away and i got the last laugh :smile1:

Good for you, Tikoma!

Thank you! I did. I was helped immediately and the two SAs who helped me were pretty much understanding of my speech.

I went in again today and sadly I saw that she still works there. I didn't interact with her. The nicer of the two SAs that helped me the other day wasn't there today sadly. The other SA was just nice enough not to be totally rude, but didn't seem happy about helping me either. I was gushing to her about how excited I was to pick up my first H bag next week, but she didn't seem to share my joy, lol. Additionally, I think my stutter might throw people off a bit. Usually it isn't that awful, but sometimes it can be awkward. I can't control it though. Alas! I will have my first H bag reveal next week, though! :) :)

Thank you to the wonderful and supportive members here on the H forum!

I think this is just awful. Lots of people stutter, my mom and my twin brother included, and it's a completely normal human thing. Anyone who makes fun of it clearly is riddled with their own issues and is not worth any of our time, but of course it is upsetting. IMO this SA should absolutely be let go, and I am so sorry that anything tarnished your H experience.

I guess we all should remember that it is about the house, the history, the craftsmanship, the beauty....and some SA who may be there for a nanosecond is only part of it in their own head. :shrugs:
