Haven't gotten a chance to take pics yet to show you the b4 and after, but after only two days of using my combo therapy, my scars are already showing a difference. One of them is decreasing in size and doesn't seem as puffy. Wow - this scarguard stuff is AMAZING!
I will try to take pics and post them this weekend!

Let us know how the ScarGuard continues to work. I had wrist surgery in May and I've been using Mederma on it. Thankfully the scar isn't raised, it's pretty flat, but it's 3" long and one half of it is looking pretty bad. Maybe I'll use both ScarGuard and Mederma!

I have turned my house upside down looking for my camera, but it is nowhere to be found. I will have my DH look for it when he gets home and take pics to share. Unfortunately, I didn't take pics exactly when I started, but you'll get an idea over the next few months how they are looking.

I am also using a collagen stimulator spray from a plastic surgeon which helps stimulate my body's own production of collagen to help heal the scars. That is a on the pricey side...but for me, I'm willing to do whatever it takes to get rid of these scars because I have had them since I was in high school, and have never been able to wear tops without my back being fully covered cause I am so self-conscious.

I have tried Mederma as well as those scar therapy silicone sheets that you stick on your back, and nothing has ever helped. Maybe the concentration of silicone was not high enough for me in those products? Not sure... I haven't tried Mederma and ScarGuard though...maybe that combo would work better than Mederma alone?

I finally found my camera, and will take pics within the next few days to show you ladies what is going on. I have two scars, and the top one is flattening, but the second one (which is quite big) isn't showing too much progress. I would say the top scar is about 20% better than when I started.

The nurse at the doctor's office I bought that collagen stimulator stuff from told me it may take up to two years to have the scars completely disappear. So...considering that, I would say the top one is doing pretty well.

I used Scarguard on a small to medium keloid scar for 4 months, applying faithfully every morning and evening, and it did nothing for my scar. I finally stopped using it as it was a hassle - would dry to a film and then peel off.

I was in an accident about 6 years ago where I was thrown underneath a barbed-wire fence, and have about a 5" long keloid scar on the outside of my upper right arm. It was very raised, wide, and red. Now I don't do anything special with it, but I used Mederma religiously for about the first 2 years after the accident, and it is considerably less red, less raised, and overall less noticeable than it was. Now only about the center 1" is a medium pink, the rest has faded and it is mostly flat. It definitely made a difference. I also have a couple of smaller keloids on my back from the same accident, and I never did any type of scar treatment with them, and there is a visible difference in their appearance vs. the arm scar.

A gentle word of advice. We will always notice our flaws more than anyone else...

I was in a car accident 17 years ago and have fairly significant scarring on my right hand/fingers and I don't even notice it anymore (and they are keloid). It took about 2 years for the red to go away and for the scars to soften. In fact, I can't remember the last time anyone mentioned it to me despite the fact that people look at the ring on my scarred hand all the time and talk to me about it.

I totally agree with you. My keloids bother me because they are still red and raised. I have gotten over the fact that my skin will never be perfect again...I just wish it wasn't as obvious.

On another note - never did get my camera to work to show what they look like. But, I stopped using the collagen stimulator and the scarguard as the results had sort of stagnated. I should start again.
