I certainly agree with what you say, although a simple thank you or get well would have been nice and apropriate re manners. I take time out to view pictures on my pc when all I want is to stay in bed. Then the person is sceptical regarding my view and messages me twice. I will just remember that and fe it for later. No more free service from me.

that is terrible! It does make me think that person is request authenticating their own item.

No, I just feel irritated why people won't read? Is that so difficult to read? And the most common one is posting additional pictures without original link, how do you want the authenticators to dig out the info? Do they sit in front of computer 24/7 just to authenticate for you? Duh! I read AT thread in various brand, one similarity is obvious, people who don't read & demand demand for authentication.

Plus when told, some are rude to the core! Read one in ATC thread, she post authentication for fun! Ridiculous!

In the ATCh Thread? yeah, the poster also talked about taking info in this thread with a grain of salt..smh...:nogood:

I myself am on a break for that same reason.

People with no business authenticating come along and starting spouting their opinions with imcomplete and/or horrible photos and get TOTALLY *****Y when we ask them to be careful. And the mods or admins do nothing about it because 'they should be able to give an opinion' - Good Lord..........

Ain't got time fo dat.
LOL! my 15 year old would say that in that certain southern drawl..:roflmfao: she wouldn't dare say it to me when I ask her to do something though. If she does not want soap in her mouth!:roflmfao:
At this moment, to those who think members are authenticating when they shouldn't, I think for now just Report to Mods and see where it goes from there. :smile1:

^^^ This!!!

This is what some AT discussions would consider chat but one of the things I love about the Coach subforum. While authentications are the main focus, because the authenticators don't mind, we also comment on seller histories, seller reputations, scary toolhaus, variations in details that make one bag from the exact same month/year/plant authentic vs. another identical one fake.

IMO, that type of chat is valuable, educational and though not literally "authentication" should be allowed if those doing the service, i.e., free authenticating agree to it.

Although not totally in line with the "rules," it's not self-promotion, not really chat and since the authenticators are freely willing to share their knowledge, those authenticators should be given a bit of leeway in their subforum.

If another authenticator and subforum don't feel that way, it's their right to stick to or make their rules.

(In these discussions, item numbers, seller IDs, etc. are still required so there's no duplication of requests and the search function will still do its job.)

I can only comment on the discussions in which I participate and I understand that other discussions are too busy to do what I've referred to.
I'm happy that we have such a relaxed and friendly environment in the Coach AT thread. If we were really strict, I don't think I would be happy to spend so much time there. I like our chat! I like how the authenticators share our knowledge with each other.

Once in awhile someone will get mad that their request hasn't been addressed, not realizing that we are volunteers, and also not understanding that we all have our specialties. Once it is explained to them, they are usually apologetic. Other than this, the atmosphere is amiable.

My very first experience with tpf was looking for authentication. If I had been required to do a bunch of posts before asking, I'm not sure I would have done it. I would either have taken my chances or given up buying on ebay.

Shortly after joining tpf, I thought I should "pay it back" so I started offering opinions before I really knew the brand. As a newbie I had no idea there were specific people who authenticated. Now when there are newbies who do the same, we are quick to authenticate the item and let the newbie know they should refrain until they know more.

Later when I had acquired more knowledge and started authenticating only items I owned, I was thanked and encouraged by the veterans. They also answered my million questions patiently. If they hadn't done that, I probably wouldn't be authenticating today.

If we had an authenticator designation, how would new or occasional authenticators get to do authentications? Sometimes none of us is familiar with a style and would welcome the opinion of someone who owns the bag, even if they aren't expert with the brand.

SMH in the AT Chanel. People keep posting their requests even though it's been written several times, authenticator taking a much needed break.
I was going to help out in the goyard forum with AT years ago but read the insensitive and manipulative remarks and thought it best not to get involved.
