I understand the tPF policy and it's certainly Megs'/Vlad's right to operate their site any way they wish, and I also appreciate the motivation to try to keep this a nice/friendly environment. I do believe that it's coming from the right place.

However to me, reporting a post because I don't like what someone said or their tone just seems so kindergarten. If the owners of tPF want to have a sanitized nice/friendly place then it's up to them to figure out how to make that happen - and not look to the members themselves to police it via reporting posts.

I am personally not one who reports posts for these reasons. I have no problems reporting spam posts and the like, but I just feel like it's running to Mommy to report a post that hurts my feelings or could be deemed somehow offensive.

It's the Internet. We're adults.

While discussing the moderating of the forum is not the topic of this thread, you are right. It's Megs'/Vlad's right to operate their forum how they choose. Their decision has been to make it a positive and productive environment. We all agree to those terms when we choose to be active on the forum. Disagreeing is welcome. Calling each other out and making personal attacks is not. It's about respectful behavior.

You are free to not report, but the reporting purpose is clear: to keep the drama to a minimum. By engaging, it only makes the environment more hostile. There are places that allow that behavior, but this is not one of them.

Got it. Thanks for the reply JetSetGo!! I know where you/Megs/Vlad are coming from and I will let it rest - I just wanted to state my perspective. Thanks for letting me do so.

It's hard to have a constructive discussion when people come in with no other agenda than to poke the proverbial hornet nest...

With the ATLV thread a few of us are trying to help by saying that you need a link and I've noticed few people respond with a simple thanks. No wonder authenticators get upset about people's attitudes!

I help out in the ATLV thread as well..what is wrong with thanks? I find either members add the link, don't respond or do say thanks...i don't think saying thanks is a bad thing...I should add I have not gotten any rude or disrespectful comments back when I tell them about the link..

Most of the time I don't think they do anything (at least in my case). As in they don't edit the post, they don't respond and they don't make a new post with the correct format.

I think (from memory) there has only been one or maybe two comments that I consider rude or disrespectful.

Thanks is fine although I would rather they say thanks then have the correct format post included.

I agree, a thanks and posting in the correct format would be great...it really doesn't bother me too much of they don't respond...I just figure they can't really do anything more with the authentication and they go elsewhere to do it. I can see where it gets frustrating saying the same thing over and over again...what I don't get is when people post "I know you require a link but I got this as a gift or bought local" or so on, so they must have read the requirements and posted anyway.

Oh, I read that differently than you did LVlvoe......:smile1:

She actually said "few people respond with a simple thanks", not "a few people respond with a simple thanks". In other words, most don't seem to respond with even a simple thank you.
I had to re-read that a couple of times myself because of the way it was worded.

At least that's how I interpreted her sentence but maybe Baglover1982 will chime in and clarify.

This!

Yup I don't mind if they don't respond either.

Ahhhhh. I guess I read it a different way....I do have many who respond with either thanks for the help or they did not realize the rules..Or some ask for suggestions on where to get the item authenticated.....some don't respond at all but I don't have a problem with that....

Sorry, I read it wrong then!:p
Yes, it would be nice for people to respond since we took the time to post a response to them....
Some people, particularly newbies, seem to think we are employees of tpf and are just doing our job (and apparently were never taught good manners). The worst ones are those that bump their request 5 minutes after they post it, and then when they get no results, hijack another authentication asking for help with theirs. These are people I love to ignore.

Most people in the Coach AT thread are very polite and appreciative.

Agreed, manners are manners no matter where we are. It's a well known fact that people, when not encountering someone face to face, don't necessarily feel the need to be nice or to respond but if the same situation were occurring in real life of course they would (at least one would hope!)

Can you imagine going into a store and asking a sales associate a question about an item and they didn't answer you or respond in any way? Rude. The same rules should apply online but because people aren't 'seeing' each other they feel they can get away with not responding.

It's still rude in my book. It just takes mere seconds to type the words thank you.

JMO.

Did we lose our LV authenticators? I hope a few bad apples didn't ruin it for the rest of us..:sad:
We really do appreciate their volunteering and taking their time to check our items.....:flowers:
