Aside from the new layout, are you proposing any other changes for the authenticators?

Is there anything specific you have in mind?

Are we supposed to report someone who authenticates without the minimum post requirement?

Yes please do! There is a notice on page one of each AT thread about the 500 post count rule. It's bolded and at the top of each of the threads.

If someone is authenticating that doesn't meet this requirements, we can delete those posts. Report them and we will be on it!

Yes, it was happening yesterday in the ATLV thread and it was quickly resolved.....thank you!!:smile1:

The jewelry AT thread has been cray cray for a long time. OMG it is out of control now, what is being done? I feel bad for the mod.

We started a new thread, added a new first post with more guidelines, and want to see how it goes. If it doesn't work out well, we may need to scrap the idea of having a jewelry AT thread because of how hard it is to authenticate jewelry and because the thread covers the breadth of jewelry as a whole.

I feel the same way as well. So frustrating!

We know. I wish there were a good answer. We will try this and as I said above, if it doesn't work, there may not be a place for a jewelry AT here unfortunately.

So appreciative of your and Vlad's efforts in this regard, Megs.

You referenced a lot of things that you were going to do in previous posts. Do you have an update of what has actually been done other than the 500 post threshold for newbies?

I understand that you were seeking advice from your lawyers. Are the authenticators going to get a ‘trusted’ status? Is there going to be an authenticators’ forum? These were some of the things mentioned previously.

Why is it that members who are antagonistic towards others don't seem to face consequences, as evidenced by the fact that the worst offenders just keep coming back. This lack of meaningful action against these members invites further instances of such behavior, which has caused missbanff to quit, and I personally had a vengeful member create an account on a private bag site using my PF ID and apparently target a member of the PF staff with insults and name-calling. This type of behavior is deeply disturbing and beyond the pale. Taunting people in a cowardly fashion on a website cloaked in anonymity is one thing, going so far as to create an alternate identity on another site and engage in aggressive behavior is quite another. When this was brought to the attention of PF admins, I believe, she only received a warning, and was not banned from the site. I understand you can't monitor what people do elsewhere, but this directly affected me here on PF, and one of your own staff. Why are these types of members not banned for disruptive behavior?

Answering you in blue below:

A lot of things are happening behind the scenes, including an entirely new authentication system being built out. We are working with developers to custom design an authentication form for everyone to be able to fill out and hopefully it helps the authenticators out a bunch. Because this is custom, it will take a while and once we hired the developers, they couldn't start right away because of their previous work.

I understand that you were seeking advice from your lawyers. Are the authenticators going to get a ‘trusted’ status? Is there going to be an authenticators’ forum? These were some of the things mentioned previously.

Trusted status still seems iffy, we are seeing a work around. Yes to an authenticators forum though

A lot of our moderating is not always done in the open forum, but behind the scenes. If we see a member being antagonistic or breaking our rules, we do take action, it's just not something we always show to everyone. If we/I have missed it, I apologize. As long as it is reported, we see it and look into it and take action if needed. I know a lot of action is taken that members don't see because infractions/reminders are not visible to everyone.

I don't know about this other issue you are referencing and this is the first I am hearing of it. The really sad thing is there are so many people who do things that I will never understand and it is really mean and just makes zero sense. I can't change anything on other sites, though many times I would like to! If you send me a PM I can see if there's anything to be done.

Wow, I hadn't heard of any of that. I don't know what drives people to do that. I'm sorry you had to deal with that.

Yay to the private authenticator lounge! I think that will be a great tool to bring all the authenticators together across the forums.

I wasn't aware that Missbanff had left and am sorry to hear this. She was a valuable asset here, just as yourself. I've noticed that you haven't been authenticating. After looking over the AT Chanel thread, I can understand why. No one reads and it's like a free-for-all over there. (Members not following the correct format, entitlement issues, etc.)

I was surprised at this recent comment made:

"The listing has ended because I am in the process of purchasing! Please authenticate!"

The sense of entitlement/rudeness is quite astounding to say the least.

I believe I know of the vengeful member that you speak of. Did this happen on the AT Chanel sub-forum by chance?

Within the past month or so, I've witnessed several members bullying a Coach authenticator who often posts here on the eBay forum. Some extremely nasty things were said, their posts deleted, yet they still post frequently as if nothing had ever happened. I've come across thinly veiled sarcasm from time to time however; these comments were over the top. I can't imagine only getting a warning for these types of posts. I've seen posts of that magnitude on political forums and accounts were deactivated instantly.

I saw that too! What unmitigated gall! The nerve! But, why wouldn't she phrase it that way? Why not? What's going to happen?

When infractions are committed, posting privileges, and it is a privilege, not a right, should be curtailed.

While I commend ANY action taken against members who violate the rules of the forum, if some of the discipline isn't done in the open, how will it discourage others from doing the same thing, and thinking that's it's acceptable to attack other members?

Someone assumes someone else's forum identity and insults a moderator and they are given a "warning"?

Valued members who contribute their time and expertise to the forum are not only feeling as if their services aren't valued and respected, they are so frustrated that they are quitting. Clearly something more needs to be done in this particular area. Members who have demonstrated an indisputable dedication to TPF and other members best interests for years in trying to prevent them from falling victim to fraud certainly merit more consideration.

I realized missbanff left when I notice her avatar was no longer James Spader a few days ago. Then saw the "done here" underneath her name. :nogood:

WOW, I didn't know anything about the vengeful member or problems at the Coach subforums. (I pretty much stay at LV, ebay forums only. Sometimes I wander into Bal forums.) That's just sad.

Completely agree with your post, Nikki.
I am very sorry Missbanff felt she had no alternative but to leave TPF.
I know I've said this before, but I really don't understand why the bad apples don't get their accounts deactivated. Instead, people like Missbanff leave us and CB (who has done a wonderful job at the AT Chanel thread) is treated like cr*p when she is trying to help people...*sigh*
