I wonder if Vlad's test user was able to upload because although it didn't have the minimal number of posts, it's not a newbie, having been registered since 2011.

He says testuser has the same permissions as if this person just signed up! Maybe just for today I'll start a new account and try it out. I am thinking it's probably more an issue of file size (which we are also trying to see if with the new software it can automatically size down the large file size).

I have been helping with the AT thread on Chanel-just referring people to outside auth. etc. While we ask for many pics, posters can't load them all into a single post, and it turns into several. At least the ones that follow the instructions!

Someone else mentioned here that pics taken with phones are hard for auth. but I would bet most don't have a camera and they do all their TPF by phone.

Most phones today have macro capability and many people do not have a clue that it exists and how to access it. Maybe in post #1 it can be suggested to change the camera's setting to the macro feature to obtain the best photos possible.

Guilty! Still haven't figure out how to upload from photobucket or make my pic size smaller.

I love reading all this discussion and was confused too about the 500 post. But I think the 500 minimum post to authenticte is a great idea.
Wouldn't it be fun if there would be a General TPF conference like Comic Con? To discuss things like this?
Just thinking loud...

That would be so fun to do a big tPF meet up!! When we would open up a panel to questions it would be a lot of questions!!!!!!! :roflmfao::faint::whistle::panic::chatty:

Please adhere to 5 smilies new rule!! :p:graucho::upsidedown::jrs::sneaky:

at the top of the page, I see a new green banner that says:

Please be aware that effective immediately, we are enforcing a new strict posting policy. Click/tap here to learn more.

when I click on it, it says:

JustAgUrL, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:

Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

Is this an announcement for ALL of us?

Or, just for Authenticators?

It just looked important, but, a bit confusing due to not being able to access the page, so I thought I would ask… :smile1:

I PM'd Megs and asked her to add this statement to the Prada AT thread. Not that people will actually pay attention, but it made me feel better!!

Are Cell phone pics ok sometimes?

I ask, because when I am taking photos of my items
I use my camera and my cell phone and sometimes, my cell
phone will be the only camera I can get a good photo of
the details.
For example, Chanel buttons with the Gold CC's are very
hard to photograph without getting a lot of glare…
and sometimes it is my phone that gets the best photo, with the most detail.

The "new policy" is an April Fools joke that Vlad posted. Essentially it says you need to have 5 emoji in each post effective immediately. 3 strikes and you are out.

PurseCon 2015! Sign me up now!

As a consumer of authentication services, I want to thank you all for this wonderful conversation. I truly believe the AT threads are what drives tPF and what encourages new members to join.

I don't have anything really relevant to add to the discussion except to thank the authenticators who do such a wonderful job and to say that I hope this discussion makes tPF an even better place!

Obligatory 5 smilies - :graucho::hbeat::supacool::broom::sos:

Thank you!!!!!

We are moving forward on many of the ideas with AT threads, working hard to make this better for everyone involved!

I am glad to see the forum continuing this discussion - as I mentioned, I have read for years but didn't feel compelled to post until I saw this discussion. While having a 500+ posting minimum for authenticators is a good idea - I still think the trusted authenticators should be called out somehow - I know many of the names just from reading on the various AT threads but I'm still looking for the Gucci authenticator who I think is on break. And I agree with the earlier discussion - authenticating without necessary pictures should not be allowed. Thank you to the authenticators who work hard to keep up the reputation of tPF. It is appreciated.

I haven't really authenticated on the Gucci subforum for over several years (during the time queen.asli, kev, An4, etc.) Maybe once in a blue moon, I'll go on and check out a few listings. Though I've been noticing is that there is authentication being done with extremely blurry pics of tag and style number or none at all! A few of them I noticed authenticated with two pics. There are too many super fakes of Gucci to rely on a few pics. I remembered back then there was a gorgeous joy boston that really tricked us authenticators and if it wasn't for the fact that I have the exact same bag, we would've thought it was real (which was pretty scary).
