Off topic a bit, but it's always bugged me that the Hermes AT forum will only authenticate active eBay auctions. There are plenty of resale sites around the Internet that sell items. Why single out eBay auctions only?

You mis-understood. The H forum requires a link to a live auction or listing, it could be from other sites other than eBay. They won't authenticate closed listing or sold items or private sales. This is because there were many cases that turned out the persons who asked for authentication were sellers themselves.

Likewise, can we add a blurb that phone pics really don't cut it as 99.99% of the time, they are not clear or close enough to see details properly? Just as a suggestion.

I PM'd Megs and asked her to add this statement to the Prada AT thread. Not that people will actually pay attention, but it made me feel better!!

3. All requests must have clear photos (either in listing and/or provided by member requesting the authentication). This will help expedite authentications. Please ask the seller/use the macro setting on your digi (little flower). If you cannot see the details yourself, neither can we. Please provide photos taken with an actual camera. Cell phone pictures rarely provide good details.

I didn't know that about the Hermes AT thread. Just my opinion :smile1: while I understand that reason in theory for no links at all/just photos... the closed/ended listing ban (as long as it's still visible) makes little sense to me. I just bought an H bag on Malleries that didn't quite have enough clear pictures to authenticate. I risked it anyway before it sold, I'll have it looked at professionally I guess I'm out of luck for members to help me out with it here once I receive it w/ my own better pics. Anyway though, I am glad it came out in this thread that this is TOTALLY up to the individual authenticator and hope some change their minds on this rule. (In another brand a long time ago I think my first year on here, I posted something that was JUST ended I found it last minute and bid.. I didn't know that thread's rule it wouldn't have crossed my mind to look and see if it was different than the one on the forum I frequented the most. Subsequently I was PM'd with a scolding by some random member and treated rudely by the authenticator for posting an ended listing and not reading the rules. Errgh, we're here to help people I thought. Perhaps I got the brunt of their bad day or something but I never did return to that subforum ever ever again lol.) :p It sounds as if Megs and Vlad are more easy-going about how members give their help here, for that information alone I am grateful for this thread. :smile1:

Could we have the same message on the ATMK thread as well?

PM Megs. She said she'd take care of things like this for we authenticators.
That message is probably appropriate for all AT threads. Some items are easily (un)authenticatable (SP?) with crappy pictures but if there's a post to avoid cell pics, it couldn't hurt to include the suggestion.

The reason they don't authenticate closed items has already been stated in my post. I agree circumstances like yours do exist but the rules are written there to be followed. If one member comes on there asking to be an exception to the rule, then many other would ask the same then there is no point of having a rule as such.

Yes I read your reason it just doesn't make sense to me as it pertains to resellers. That's all I'm saying, it's not often the case at all (that it's a reseller) when a listing has ended. At least not in the AT threads I help in or follow.

And as Megs stated recently, it's actually up to each authenticator what rules they want to set for themselves as evaluators. Which I was expressing I think is great, and a new concept some of us hadn't realized.

Ah yes I get what you are saying about closed auctions now. I remember a particular reason for it but can't recall the details of it. I will get back to you if I do. Sorry for the miscommunication.
