Haha, yeah, i remember when this bag was just called the "flap over zip." The day i got it, i was choosing between this or a chanel boy. decided on the TF and have no regrets! even my DH said it "looks much cooler."

it's sad that they changed up the materials. probably bound to happen as SAs have said TF used Hermes' leather peeps to produce his first capsule bag collection and that's why it was priced so high.

You're so lucky to have found a original! I would love to add a small brown one to my collection, but only if I could find an original one.

Based on my experience, there appears to be three versions of this bag - the original with smooth leather and suede (or maybe suede-like microfiber) lining, a second generation one with more textured leather, smaller hardware and black cotton lining (this is what John told me they were calling the "Original"), and now the newer one with pebbled leather, smaller hardware, microfiber (suede) lining & the TF stamp under the flap. This isn't counting the suede bags or the ones with the longer and/or zippered strap. I know they're all versions of this bag, but I'm talking about the original design.

I wonder what the thinking was behind the lower price? They were obviously selling the bags at the higher price point. If they wanted to reach more people with a lower price, I can understand it, but I almost wish they would have continued selling the bag at the higher price with the original materials.

Iluvmybags I have learnt to keep an eye on YOOX. I Get all I want at great prices there eventually. My Tom Ford bag was in perfect condition and feels so luxurious to carry.



By the way, I too am not sure if the lining is suede, it could be microfibre.

Hi again, ladies! I have the original smooth calf black flap over bag (small version), and I love it! The only problem is, it costs so much that I don't use it as much as I should, I just fear that I might spill something on it, etc. :)

At any rate, every time I do go out with it, I get tons of compliments, even from non-purse people who don't know the Tom Ford brand.

Now I'm searching for the original TAN brown (not chocolate) version of the same bag. I've scoured eBay and even inquired at TF in Las Vegas, and they said it's no longer available.

Does anybody have this bag? I'd love to find it someday from a previous owner if possible.

Do you mind me asking how much you got your Tom Ford bag for on Yoox? Also, have you had a good experience with Yoox? I've never purchased from them before..
