I purchased the small Jennifer flap-over with the zippered strap in November 2012 (@Harrods in London).

I love the look of the zippered strap, but it does make the bag heavier (I wear it as a cross-body). The strap is well-padded though, so it is still pretty comfortable. The bag itself is sturdy, wonderfully-structured and the leather is of impeccable quality – this bag will last.

Harrods was having a 10% off sale when I purchased the bag – all I had to do was sign up for the Harrods Rewards card (it isn't a credit card; rather, a rewards program) and I received my 10% off on the spot. I also visited Harrods tax department upstairs so I could get my VAT refund processed at customs. I opted to get the refund back on my credit card, which took about 4 weeks and ended up being $298 USD.

When it was all said and done, I paid about $2300 USD after paying the import tax at DFW airport (and including the $298 VAT refund). Buy it abroad if you can!

May I ask how you got the VAT back was there a HARRODS duty free at Heathrow airport. I am going to London and Paris but not until end of June..I wonder if that will be the same price.

So have you guys seen the redesign of the Jennifer? I really, REALLY don't like it!! :yucky:

They changed the leather -- whereas it used to be a nice, smooth calfskin leather, they're now using a textured, almost pebbled type of leather. The under part of the flap used to be all leather, now it's lined with suede like the inside of the bag. The shoulder strap & hardware is different as well.

I had a feeling this would happen -- they'd drop the price and change the materials. They swore that wasn't the case, but guess what?

You know, I had the original and sold it -- I've been regretting that decision more & more, and so I finally called TF in Vegas to see about getting a new one. These are the pics he sent me -- as soon as I saw them, I was like "no thank you"! UGH! Why did I ever part with that bag??

NOOOOOO!!! I FLOVE the TF Jennifer bag...not that I was probably ever gonna break down and pay the $$ for it, but a girl should be able to have her dreams, right? LOL Now it seems they went and ruined my dream bag...does not really look like the same bag to me from your pics. Heck, if I just saw these pics of the new one randomly somewhere, I'd think it was an "inspired by" bag.

BOO! Tom Ford aka dream killer! :crybaby: Just kidding. Sort of. :roflmfao:

I'm so sick, I seriously want to cry!
I used to have an original Jennifer and sold it last summer. Big regret! Especially when I found out the buyer I sold it to, turned around and resold it because it "really wasn't her"! I found her listing, contacted her and she didnt reply for weeks. By the time she did, she says, oh I already sold it!

So I contacted TF to replace it and that's when I learned how drastically they changed the bag. I told them I wasn't interested, but then John - yes, I think the same John you all speak so highly of! - contacted me to tell me he found an original! I was so excited. He was in such a hurry to put it all thorough, I should have known something was up! I asked for pics, and based on what he sent, it looked like the same bag, and he assured me, it was the original with smooth calfskin leather

Well, the bag arrived today and its definitely not the original. The leather is textured - not as textured as the new ones, but definitely not smooth! The hardware is different and worse, its lined with black cotton! I called, and they said I could send it back, and of course John's not there

I should have insisted on more pics. He made it seem like such a rush - like I had to buy it before "someone finds out about it" (that's what he said!) We talked about the bag, he knew I had an original - anyone who had an original would never be satisfied with this.

Now, I'm going to have to scour eBay and hope to find a gently used one, I'm sure that's pretty unlikely, considering how rare they were when they were in active production. Now that its discontinued? Yea, good luck with that!

I'm so disappointed. :shucks::sad:

wowww $4000 :faint: i better choose Hermes Kelly... but the big zip is amazing!! i remember i had a school bag with big zipper like that 13 years ago, the bag is non designer bag... but i bought it because of the big zipper :roflmfao:
I love the Tom Ford flap over zip bag's shape and the big zip... but i feel lucky enough to have Chloe Marcie which is cheaper than this bag :D and also low maintenance!!

Its actually not $4k anymore - they lowered the price to $3k for the large, $2700 for the small (but the lower price didn't come w/o changes to the bag.)

So after my disappointing purchase from Tom Ford, I was on a mission to find a gently used version of the original. Of course, every listing I looked at was for a fake! Those darned counterfeits! I sent the bag back on Friday and they refunded my money on Saturday. Saturday night I was browsing eBay when one listing caught my eye. I contacted the seller and asked for a few more pics. The bag appeared to be the original AND it was NWT! The seller & I went back & forth - she's actually a member of tPF! We agreed to meet up in person (she lives 15 minutes from me!) and by the following Wednesday, I had my original Flap Hobo! Its just as amazing as I remember! I learned my lesson & I am never letting go of this beauty!

That's great news. Have you posted pics? My ipad is acting strange and I can't see pics.

I think I need to. I tried to adjust my hands and now I can't get it back to its original position with loops in the right place. Am sure it's very simple but it's really got me thinking.

congratulation!!!! so beautiful, may I ask how much you're getting this for? I like this bag so much but can't see myself paying full retail price
