Thoughts on Coach's Fall bags

Hmmmm... Followed the link and that was the first I saw of the fall line. Nothing really caught my eye and overall just does not seem like I'll find anything that I love that fits my style. Perhaps this will finally break me of my coach addiction! I just cleaned out my closet today and have plenty to use for a long while.

Actually, I kind of wonder if Prada was the inspiration for that one (4th in slideshow):

and Fall 2013 line is still out there:

And I can think of a bunch of other high-end designers that release out there designs as well (Fendi, Miu Miu, Versace, Valentino, Moschino, Alexander McQueen, Dolce & Gabbana, and Marni to name a few). I don't think this will be the best way for Coach to compete with them, but every line has those bags that only appeal to a limited amount of people.
I can see how it looks like a copy of Prada, but they did a kindergarten job of copying it. The flowers on the Prada are delicate and have a relation to the subtle print of the bag. The Coach looks like a craft project.

I have to admit I'm excited for it... The past two years of boring plain bags are finally giving me hardware and leather... The awesomeness of the old 65th Anniversary line...

I talked to my FP manager and all these are the higher tier bags... The regular bags aren't supposed to be as out there if that's what your looking for...

Agreed, but considering there's probably a 10x difference in cost, it's to be expected. My point is that most all lines have out there bags that appeal to a limited clientele. I'd buy neither, but can appreciate both.

I agree. I don't like how Coach just tiled the beaded flowers on the print without regard for how it relates to the print. If the beads enhanced the print or followed the print, that would be ok. Or if the print were more subtle, like the Prada, maybe it would work. This looks like an afterthought, and a poorly done one at that. The print is pretty by itself, they should have just left it alone, or used more subtle bling.

I will need to see the bags in person but it looks like the leather is going to be really thick and nice. It also looks like some of the bags are going to be big which I love. My collection is actually perfect right now but if I like anything I'll probably get one bag + slg's. I'm definitely in the minority in that I don't like anything that is out right now so I'm looking forward to a change.

Some of these are cute. I like the larger bags that kind of look like the older legacy/hamptons laptop totes, and the bags with the metal bling. But some do look rather cheap. I want to see some with rounded handles, nice thick leather like the 65th anniversary legacy, and gold hardware. that i am sure will never happen. I do also like that they made the emblem into metal and not the cheap metallic stamp that is on most bags now.

Just wanted to add that I'm glad there are some ladies who like the looks of the Fall bags. Even though they're definitely not for me, I'm looking forward to seeing the reveals from those who do get them! The bags are certainly not boring, I will give them that. And there may still be a few "not so high end" bags that are simpler and more to my taste.

I like some of the design elements and I like oversized turnlocks. I like a few of the bags, although I don't know if I will be buying any of the ones I've seen. Some of them make me think Tonto lost his saddle bag. :D
Exactly. So much fringe and fur and BIG stitching and slouchiness. Please let this be a one season aberration.

I'm actually liking quite a few Coach things on the website right NOW, and I've been away from this brand for years, so that's saying something. For the new fall lineup, I don't feel connected to much of it, but in a couple places there are shapes, lines and textures that look interesting.

Hope they do all this in a way that still leaves a lot of simpler choices available. I'm looking for classic style with some simplicity and elegance plus just a little edge and updating. Not "way out" stuff.

How do you all feel about the new creative director's lineup?

I know what I feel: disappointment, uninspired, crushed. I don't like it; I honestly don't think there is one bag on there that I actually like a lot, never mind love. :(

There was one bag I was interested in...but I've already lost interest!

I'll check them out when they are released but I won't spend $1,500 for a Coach bag--or even $500! :smile1:

It's not just Coach, though, I'm kinda bored with most designer bags right now...which is good for my wallet but sad for me!

Is this one of the new Coach fall bags? Because I actually quite like this. I found it today in my magazine.

Pretty sure it'll have compartments, though. Darn.
