Theme parks/Disney

I usually carry a coach hamptons weekend pack when I go to theme parks. I got mine off ebay for $60, and they come in a bunch of colors (or signature but you said you don't want to scream money!). It doesn't matter if it gets wet and holds up well and can be worn cross body. Here's one on ebay like the one I have.

eBay: NEW COACH HAMPTONS WEEKEND PINK ZIP BAG Baby 8F40 1896 (item 140053806038 end time Nov-26-06 15:53:23 PST)

There are swing packs too, but I don't like those because they are vertical as opposed to horizontal and a pain to search through.

HAVE FUN! Happy early birthday!

It is kind of interesting, but I live in Florida and am at Disney and other theme parks all year long. Unless you are carrying a load of stuff for other people as well as yourself, I don't think I'd carry a purse at all. As a matter of personal taste, I just wear cargo pants or shorts because unless you are going to go on any of the attractions, the seats are usually.......well....not too clean and sometimes sticky, not to mention any of the water rides. Just bite the bullet and try to think of carrying your items another way. That's the only suggestion I can give because it works for me, and I usually change out my purses every day!!

I hit Six Flags this summer and carried a really simple Lesportsac small messenger bag, it worked great! It's even relatively waterproof and it's super light. I put my cheapie camera in a ziploc bag to protect it on water rides though. You can find good deals on Lesportsac on eBay and at TJ Maxx usually, they're cheap enough that you won't have to worry about messing it up at the theme park but look a little more chic than your standard fanny pack.

Wow! These are all GREAT ideas! I am glad I have a few months to make up my mind. Somehow I think that I will end up with at least 4 new bags for this trip (and counting).

I really like the cargo shorts idea as well so that may require yet another purchase. I think I actually have some from the early to mid-90s buried in my basement storage. I think they are A&F from back when Abercrombie was an outdoors-y store rather than whatever it is now. I really am old, huh? :blushing:

Any more suggestions? I think I may need to ask my man for one new bag for every day of my trip. :choochoo:

this was the one I used but mine was in blue. the adjustable strap is super plus it's pretty waterproof so your electronics are protected on the water rides for the most part. Plus you can hold your tix in the easily accessble sip pocket in the back of the purse

I used a Le SportSac like bag I got at Mervyn's when I went to Disneyworld about three years ago. It was a good size, fun pattern (palm trees!) and I could wear it cross body.

I just wanted to thank everyone for their input on a theme park bag. I finally purchased one this past weekend at Off 5th. I ended up not going waterproof because I came across a canvas Marc by Marc Jacobs bag that was so perfect in every other way that I am going to just get a waterproof pouch (or maybe just a Zip-loc baggie) to put my cell in. The bag is a heavy canvas so the contents should stay relatively dry if not submerged and the strap is "detachable" sort of in that it consists of thick fabric pulled through metal buckles. The straps actually reminded me of the belts I wore in the 80s which made me realize that if I "unthreaded" one end, I could
actually re-attach it around my waist. While I am not a fan of fanny packs, I think they do allow you to keep them on while riding most rides, so I can re-attach the bag around my waist when I don't want to leave it unattended like they sometimes try to make you do. Oh, and the best part is that because the bag had no tag, I talked them into giving it to me for $29.99!!! Can't beat that!

oooh, do you have pics? that sounds great!

I will try to take some pics and post them if you would like (may not happen until I get back just because things will be hectic). Its nothing real special but its perfect for my purposes.

(It will also take me a little time to figure it all out since I haven't posted pics of my "collection" ever since I have mostly Kate Spade, Betsey Johnson, and others of that ilk - not as high end as I know most around here prefer to ogle.)

When I went to Disneyland, I used my nylon Prada backpack and I'm so glad I did. It's small enough that it's not a pain to take on rides. Plus it's comfortably to carry on your back and you don't have to worry about it getting dirty which inevitably happens at these parks (at least to me!)

Sounds like your new bag will do just fine, though. Congrats on your purchase.

well i went into the newbies forum but i dont think i was suppose to ask questions there. =p oops.
