Yes, but I also think it's to make the handles more sturdy?? Sorry I'm not sure. Another thing is they changed the way the piping is on the sides of the bag, I guess that's to protect the piping from ripping , I noticed the difference from my older speedy.
Oh what did they change with the piping? I do like the non-plastic material inside the pocket. The zipper I could do without but just curious to know the reasoning behind these changes [emoji16]
Sorry, I'm the worst at explaining things. My sa told me the canvas around the piping was made to protrude out to protect the piping . Hopefully this pic helps. The mono is my old speedy, the de is the nm, not the one with the zippered pocket.

No problem! Which one did you get? I really love the speedy design, but the bandouliere makes it so much better. I'm not a top handle person at all.
I got the speedy b25 in DE [emoji16] I had it in the regular 35, which worked when I was in school but I carry so much less now that the 25 is much better.
I'm in with a Speedy b 25 in mono! I have a regular 30 in DE. I LOVE it, but I'm regretting a little bit not getting the 30 in the bandoliere. My logic was that sometimes you just want a smaller bag, lol. But I'm a bit heavy so hoping it matches my frame. I'm 5'2 and 150 pounds. Maybe one day I'll get a bandoliere 35 to have a nice trio. At any rate, so nice to have a crossbody for outings. Here's some modeling shots.

IMHO, 25 looks best as a cross body bag and 30 hand held ❤️
Thank you! I agree! And I also noted that whenever people post pics of the 30 Bandoliere, they are usually holding it so I figured they must prefer it as a handheld. I love the look of my 30 as a hand held.

I think this size is perfect in you! I have the 30 and I think the 25 looks better crossbody! Love it!
