So upon doing a lot of research on the forum I wasn't sure if the glazing was peeling due to bending of the flap or was it the hardware rubbing against it but something inside of me was thinking that it's definitely probably the hardware. So to test it, I decided to find a soft material to surround the hardware. I was thinking something like velvet but with velvet you can see the stitches so I decided to go with fleece since its more forgiving with seams and its good at hiding stitches. I tried to choose the best matching shade of brown fleece since there's no such thing as gold fleece lol. I pretty much wrapped it around the lobster clasp and sewed around it from top to bottom on one side. Kind of like making a clochette bell for the lobster clasp. I started sewing from the top, sew it tighter at the swivel part and a little looser as you sew along the clasp. I made sure to make the bell/protector at least 1 mm past the clasp. Since fleece is stretchy you can remove it and put the protectors on and off as you like. I just leave mines on. Also its very easy to hook and unhook the clasp if you decide not to use the strap. I know it looks UGLY but when you actually wear the pm its somewhat subtle at least imo lol. Ive been wearing my pm everyday to class and to run errands for 3 weeks straight! And my classes are pretty far from where i park so you can imagine all the rubbing and friction it takes. Fyi I always wear my pm crossbody too which i heard is also what contributes to the peeling. Although nothing has happened yet i still want to continue for another two weeks to make sure that indeed it is actually protecting the glazing from the hardware.

Hi there, great idea! I just wanted to ask you if you are still doing this and if so, how is your bag doing?
Thank you[emoji8][emoji1316]
