I know this is a common issue with the previous Metis bags. Question is what do I do? The bag is from 2016 and I noticed this has happened to the glazing. I’ve been careful with the bag and never thrown it around.

Can I contact LV and what do I say so they just don’t dismiss this as my usage fault?

Thank you

The same happened to my bag. I took it in and they fixed it for free. Do you know a store near by you can take it too?

Hey ladies! I want to thank you for all of your pics and comments. This forum helped me seal the deal with purchasing this bag! This is my first purchase with LV and it's for my birthday. Unfortunately my bag came today with 2 issues that I felt were too much to ignore. Firstly, the hardware on the strap came with no protection and was all scratched up. Second, the glazing on the flap had a chip in it. With these 2 issues, I decided to initiate an exchange. I also noticed a strange odor from the bag but I wasn't sure if that was normal. I swear I read posts from others talking about that too. I'm sending this one back and hoping to receive my new bag by my actual birthday (which is quickly approaching). I'm trying not to feel disappointed since a new one will be sent to me once this return is received but I'm a little bummed. Would you have returned this bag as well? Am I being too critical? I just would expect a higher quality from a luxury brand. Anyway, I believe in 2nd chances so here's to hoping they redeem themselves!

I would have definitely returned that myself so you are absolutely not too critical. For the money we deserve flawless bags. Well at least not scratched up and chipped ones.

They usually re glaze for free but is is wear from the clasp rubbing on the area when wearing. I've noticed they have sometimes started charging for repair as they now say it's wear and tear.. The melting glazing in 2014 - 2015 was a defective batch of glazing

i also had a 2016 bag with defects (cracks in the canvas), and 3 months ago went into the store with it and they have me a refund because cracks are not normal and they saw the bag was in great overall condition so no big wear and tear.

Can anyone tell me how is their PM empriente holding up? I am undecided to go with this or SL Niki. Just bought neoneo in empriente and cant stop thinking about a another new bag
The PM in empreinte leather is great, and I love it so much that I ended up getting it in 3 colors. Yes, the leather wears down over time and the LV imprint fades and is not as pronounced as it was originally. I think this will happen on most bags, regardless of design. Here is one of my PMs after a couple of years. Oddly, it wore down on the front more than the back. I would have expected the wear to be more on the back since that's where it rubbed against me when wearing the bag, but the back of the bag looked great.

Unfortunately, that one ended up having glazing issues, so I got a new one in 2019, and this one so far as been wearing fine, although I also haven't used it as much.

I think the pattern on the empreinte leather fades due to the leather stretching more than from rubbing. I would imagine, unless you routinely stuff the back zipper pocket with items, that the back side wouldn't stretch as much as the flap or the front where you are constantly putting items in your bag.
Good point. That very well could be why.
