The monogram out of style?

What I don't understand is how they keep buying new stuff ALL the time!! I have a full-time job and make good money but I still cant bring myself to do it

However I do love the canvas pieces and have a few which i dont think will be going anywhere any time soon.
Can they even enjoy it before the next thing comes along?

Speaking as someone who didn't really grow up liking LV mono, I just knew that it was an iconic print. Always has been and always will be. Classic to the core.

P.S. Having said all of the above, I do not personally own a mono bag (I have empreinte leather and de).

I don’t think mono bag is a trend. To me, mono is classic LV.
I buy what I like. I am fine to have the same bag with 100 ladies on the same street. That is how I feel about neverfull. I know everyone has one. This tote is very comfortable. I am sure 100 other ladies also thinking the same, not just following the trend.
As long as I like the bag, I will get it. Sometimes for some reasons, I sold my bag but when I miss, I will repurchase. Buy-bored-sold-repurchase-fall in love again. That’s the circle of my life.

Thank you all for your input. It is most helpful. I somehow managed to get my hands on the papillon trunk in mono…I am wondering should I add it to my collection or if it is too many monogram bags? I could get a preloved chanel instead…your thoughts?

I think the word “trend” is key here. I wouldn’t call LV’s monogram “on trend”. It’s classic and will always be in style. I think the point of “influencers” is that they always have to be seen to be wearing the latest trend, which is something that isn’t going to stay in fashion for long before they’ve got to be showing the next thing. In any case, I genuinely wouldn’t care if one (or all!) of my bags were suddenly seen as out of date. If the height of sophistication suddenly became one of the new LV bags with neon straps and massive comic book style lettering across the front, you can bet I’d still be carrying my classic bags and not giving it a second thought.

Lol….Very well said.

Please can I pick your brains.
By chance I got my hands on The Papillon trunk in Selfridges over the weekend. Majority of my bags are in monogram canvas…should I add this to my collection or not. The reason I am conflicted about this is because I could add a bit more and get Chanel mini (preloved of course) instead. The differential is not huge as Chanel is preloved. Of course I can’t keep both. What would you choose? Thank you….your suggestions and comments have been most useful.
BTW about my collection-
chanel- I have a VERY vintage chanel flap (more like battered) in black from 80s and a Chanel jumbo in black with big CC in vertical quilt.
LV- Pochette metis in mono, Neonoe in mono, MPA in mono, GO TP26

It depends what you are looking for to add to your collection - something more casual or formal? The papillon trunk is a gorgeous bag, something that I would wear as a daily bag, and probably suited to the "covid" lifestyle of present times. The pochette Metis could be used for this purpose though.

On the other hand, the chanel mini flap could be used more formally. It is quite a (lovely and vibrant) red colour, would it match with your wardrobe? For me it probably wouldn't, as I do have a lot of colourful clothes!

A pop of red is on my wishlist…
