Just in case anyone is wondering how dirty some of those vintage eBay pieces are. View attachment 3664641
I skipped baby wipes and went straight to Lysol wipes. Followed up with soap+water and scrubbed the canvas with a baby toothbrush. Slathered Cadillac conditioner all over the canvas and let it sit over night. Worked miracles.

Repairing gouged/scraped canvas:

This cut is deep and goes through the plastic coating of the canvas (think paper cut). Used a sewing needle and some super glue to slowly and carefully stick the pieces back together.

Great job with that repair!

the creases may pose a problem. It is difficult if not impossible to get them out on vintage items. You can try conditioning the canvas and then keeping it in a flat position for some time to try to alleviate it a bit. would be more effective to carefully iron the inside fabric, but this is risky in melting the pvc coated canvas. Maybe steaming the inside a bit would work (never tried this though so I have no clue). The watermarks can be diffused and lightened somewhat with a cleaning - liquid detergent and water, followed by conditioning with something like cadillac boot and shoe. They can't be completely removed though.

@chinchin7 Thank you so much for your expert advice :flowers: I've read on a few threads about how difficult it was to get rid of folding marks on coated canvas even on newly bought items from the LV store, so I was naturally concerned that they may be even more stubborn and hard to remove on vintage pieces. Your statement pretty much confirms this :oh: Honestly, I don't think the folding marks would have bothered me as much if they were on a different style bag, say like the Speedy for instance. But because the Noé is a much less structured bag, the folding marks and creases seem rather glaring and more obvious.

As for the watermarks, I've read that as long as you use the right cleaning agents (as directed) and you don't mind putting the effort/elbow grease into cleaning it, you're bound to end up with a much improved piece with the vachetta looking a lot better than what you started off with.

At this point, I'm not certain if I'll still end up buying this vintage piece, although I am tempted to get it just to see if I can really transform it :p Anyway, I so appreciate your feedback and help on this. You've given me enough information that will assist in my decision  Thank you!

Is anyone aware of a gold pen to 'paint' over chipped LV hardware (like a zipper). I was thinking I had read about someone using one of them on tpf but I can't recall the brand or anything or find it again. Thanks!

Ladies, I need your help/advise. I just got a Tulum PM form yoogis and i was so excited when i found it. I've been wanting this bag because Tulum, Mexico holds special meaning for me. But when I received the bag earlier, i noticed it had rips on the canvas. Can this be repaired? I asked my LV SA and she said, no, LV will not repair bags with ripped canvases. That i wouldnt even be able to send this in when I want the vachetta replaced!
I would really like to keep the bag due to sentimental reasons, but if this is not something i can repair, or if it will just cause more issues later, then i will have to return it. But i wanted to check here first!
My main concern is that it is in an area that could potentially affect the durability of the bag and that the rip may get bigger if i don't fix it (if it can be fixed)

That can be glued but not fixed. Unless you got it for a really low price, I'd return it. I see these on eBay occasionally. I'd look for one in better condition if I were you.

Thank you for the feedback! 450 USD sound good for this??? Aside from a little patina (which i can clean), and the turn lock a little scratched and tarnished, it's in OK condition. I'm not a savvy ebay shopper so i usually buy from yoogis or fashionphile, to "be sure"
