Hey bagnutt
What products did you use to clean the vachetta? I've got a 24 year old Alma and I'm worried about using the wrong thing on such vintage leather.

If anyone else has got some recommendations on cleaning/conditioning products too I'd be grateful. I'm not completely sold on the magic eraser (or flash eraser as it's known here in the UK) because I've heard it really dulls the leather.
Hi jb,
I used magic eraser on the bottom of my Noe to diminish the most obvious water marks. Once that was dry completely, I used Cadillac leather conditioner on the vachetta to restore the moisture. The final step was applying Tarrago Self-shine in Neutral on all the vachetta to bring the shine back.

Honestly, if you use a high-quality conditioner, it will do an amazing job of bringing back the suppleness that the magic eraser strips away (in my experience, anyway). Good luck with your restoration!

Hello.
I bought my LV bag in 2001 at a Sydney duty free store at The Rocks. I only used the bag occassionally then in 2002 I noticed the leather starting to tear where the shoulder strap buckle connects to the bag (see image showing the worst one).
All my friends were surprised that this happened. I never overloaded the bag.
At the time I took it back to LV but they wanted AU $240 to repair it. I didn't go ahead because it seens there is a weakness in the design so nothing would stop it happening again.
Since then I've kept the bag out of sight so I'm not annoyed everytime I see it.
Another problem is the gold image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg patina/enamel on the zipper and zipper pull tags is badly worn. Otherewise the bag is as good as when I bought it.
It's a real pity that this has happened, especially for an expensive bag from LV and that LV didn't take any responsibility.
A friend suggested I google to see if anyone had had similar problems and I came across this excellent forum. I haven't seen any mention of the same model as my bag but I hope someone here can help.
Thanks in advance.
Suzy

Just received my speedy 25 from Japan. She's 22 years old and is great shape. Its funny because they rated her as CD in condition, but all I did was polish the brass and clean her up with baby wipes and Cadillac conditioner. She's ready for another decade or two!

Just want to share my little experiment...The wallet was my first try at this and was supposed to be the same color as the lexington, obviously I wasn't too sure on the process and I had to end up going black with it but I think I got the lexington done pretty good. Especially since these two cuties are gonna be inside my purse.

They look Fantastic!

Have you ever found anything that lightens vachetta without dulling it?
I use the magic eraser with conditioner not water, then I condition it right after it dries some. I am a but aggressive with my cleaning but I just do it that one time then keep it up with just baby wipes and conditioner. Heard a lot of people using saddle soap though since it is a lot gentler Top pics before bottom afters.Handles.jpg IMG_3317.jpg Spot.jpg B4AfterInside.jpg

Oh. My. Gawd. Girl, this is impressive. By "conditioner" are you referring to the Fiebings's Saddle Lac Flexible you mentioned in your post?
