Ohh that's sad, but i couldnt bring myself to carry a very dirty and stained vintage bags, and whatever i do i couldnt remove the stains so i had to have the bags restored. Oh well, i already paid them.

Honestly, if you don't plan on selling them it shouldn't matter anyway. You'll probably still get a significant amount, just probably not as much as if they were left in their original condition.
I thought about getting my petit noe fixed up. The leather around the top is starting to crack and flake off even though I'm on top of conditioning it. I put the bag through hell though trying to get the musty smell out.

Thanks. I thought so too, i dont think i will sell my bags anyway. I just hope that i can take care of my bags properly.

My new to me (and my first LV bag) 1993 Speedy arrived from Japan yesterday! I now need to figure out the best way to clean her up. I don't mind the shine of the handles I just need to get rid of the blackness so I am a bit scared to use a magic eraser. I don't really want to wait for the Apple conditioner to be posted either. Will the Patina Champ method work for this bag or is it too old?

I got a speedy 25 from ebay for a steal. Granted, the bag is 30 year old and the leather is pretty worse for wear. The bag also shipped without the zipper pull tab which i was aware of. I brought it in to LV and my SA said that the repair will cost me $51NZD and even though i was upset because I heard from this forum that this typical repair is free, i told him to go ahead and get the bag repaired. He said that it should take roughly a week and that I can pay for the repair upon picking up the bag. Do you think that I should ask for the repair to be free? or just accept that I do have to pay for it?

51 nzd? For me that is cheap already, considering its 30 years old. I dont think they will repair it for free. Its normal wear and tear

That's what I was thinking as well. Maybe if you had bought it and it was only a year old when the tab broke they would do it for free. But because it's 30 years old they probably wouldn't do it for free.

Well, I think it's fixed up enough to wear. I FINALLY got the smell out of this bag. It took airing it out and basically baking it in the sun. The leather around the top is pretty rough but that's the only real issue. I bought a second strap because the original was starting to crack and I didn't want to risk it breaking in case I decide to sell it later. The drawstring is a baseball mitt lace. I plan on buying another to fix up and sell this one. In the meantime I want to carry it! ImageUploadedByPurseForum1465431892.504490.jpg
