I think I could have cleaned the base a bit more, but I was concerned about drying out the leather too much. Very pleased with the results!!
products I used:
Baby wipes (canvas and interior)
Magic Eraser (vachetta, particularly water stains)
Cadillac boot & shoe care (to condition the leather)
Tarrago Self Shine in Neutral (to add luster & shine back to the leather)
Looks great, that water stain cleaned up really well!
Impressive!

Not bad for a 20 year old looking bag
Just got her last week and will for sure be using it now that it is black
Realizing I forgot to post my Epi Sac Plat here after attacking the gross sticky lining! Am trapped inside, on crutches after an injury last week and today to keep the boredom at bay I read this entire thread from beginning to end. Very educational and very encouraging.
So here it is: this gorgeous bag is nearly pristine on the outside, but it's been in storage for years. LV won't replace the lining because they don't make the awful Vuittonette lining any longer. And they wouldn't do it in the purple microsuede. Kind of unbelievable, but they say it's how they maintain the product integrity. My LV man gave me the info for a cobbler somewhere on the south side they take their own customer (LV) shoes to -- but I couldn't fathom allowing a cobbler to take the whole thing apart. So it sat and sat until somewhere on tpf (maybe here or in the epi forum) someone recommended baby powder!
I sprinkled the baby powder liberally inside the bag and proceeded to brush it with an unused shoe brush I had in an old Coach repair kit. The powder makes the sticky go away quickly, but it takes some of the purple lining with it. The result is not pretty, but it is usable again. Far from perfect -- but only I will know about the lining's icky secret.
hi BagStalker...that someone was me ...I am so happy it made your bag useable again.
MALTOO...I am grateful to yoooo...thanks SO much! If I hadn't gotten this advice from you I probably would have taken it to the cobbler, and who knows how it would have come out? Thanks again!
