This is awesome! I just order my little preloved girl. She is definitely going to need some love on those dark handles and the zipper came off track but I can fix a zipper in my sleep.[/QUOTE]

Congrats can't wait to see the results [emoji4]

if anyone can help me ... is there a way to replace the exterior vachetta "made in usa/spain/france" tabs on the pochette pieces once they get faded/worn? would it just be replaced by a plain one? i don't know the proper way to describe it, but the tab pictured.

Any advice for Nomade leather? I've been using a Lockit in Nomade as an everyday bag for 2/3 years, the handles have darkened, the corners and other parts have lightned instead. How can I make the leather more even? I've already applied Saphir cream, it has improved but I think it can get better than this.
And how do you clean the stitching?

Hi,

I hope I am in the right place as this is my first post.
I want to purchase a speedy 40 bag and I think I can get it at a good price. The only flaw is that the zipper will need replacing. I want to use the bag for personal use and I am thinking about sending to a reputable luxury shop for the repair. I will see if I can post a picture of the zipper.
The bag is pre 80's with an eclair zipper. I don't know if the repair will send my cost sky high and if I should even bother with this. Anyone repair a zipper on a Speedy 40?

I haven't repaired a zipper on the Speedy 40 (but I have on a MC Eliza). I'd say use caution in deciding whether or not to purchase - word is that LV is getting pickier on what they will repair, especially if the item has canvas issues. Good luck!

This is the exact thread I was looking for. I recently, that's means yesterday lol, received a 25 year old pre owned noe. I bought it off eBay and it was coming from Japan so I was a bit nervous. Luckily it came exactly the same as it looked. I've been working on it and cleaning up the brass. I'm hoping to clean up the leather as well!! If anyone can give me a product that with hydrate this leather that would be great!! Thank you 🤗

How exciting! Love the idea of revamping an old classic. I have used collonil 1909 on my chanel python skin peep toes and it nourished them really well. I'd check it's OK for vachetta leather, if so I can recommend it. Mulberry recommends collonil for their bags. Looking forward to seeing the after photos.

Hello, it's been a long time since I've been in TPF, but recently rescued a bag that I've fallen in love with and wanted to share it in this club. It's an almost 29 year old petit noe ( 1988). Here she is when I first got her, I had polished the grommets but hadn't touched the leather. It was a dry and flat mahogany color. I forgot to take photos of it before I had done anything to it. The leather was all intact which wasn't easy to find in a bag this old, but dry and dingy looking.

Beautiful! Great work! I am also in the process of rehabbing a vintage noe. What did you use to condition? I have some options but am afraid of how the conditioner will absorb into the dryer sections

Hello!!! I was looking for the Cadillac conditioner that several people recommended, but couldn't find it in a local store and was too impatient to wait. We have a local Boot Barn and they have their own label leather care products, so I went over and bought it yesterday. I figured the leather was already pretty dark and was so dry, it wouldn't be hurt by any good conditioner. I loved it!!!!! I had some super dry spots of vachetta, not cracked through but flaking and would have eventually been a serious crack. You can also see in the first photo along the top trim some of the leather was curling up around the stitching cus it was dry and felt "shrunken" up, if you know what I mean?? After conditioner it all softened up, color evened out on the dry flaky areas and feels so much softer and supple. I could NOT believe what a difference conditioner made. I've never put anything on my new bags with vachetta so this was eye opening.

Here is the bottom which was clean, but a weird flat texture. I think she may have been cleaned with magic eraser and not conditioned. Now she has a nice vintage shine, not oily, but like healthy leather.

I'm so sorry I didn't quote you above so wanted to make sure you got a response 😊. I copied and pasted my original reply.

Great results! After I commented on your post yesterday I thought I'd take a chance myself with some Apple conditioner that I had already. It seemed to do exactly what you described. Sort of blended the marks in and didn't settle in funny at all. The color looks like a deeper version of what had already been there with a nice luster. I'm excited to use this bag! Just waiting on a new drawstring as the one that it came with was super dry and flakey. Don't know how I will get the new drawstring to catch up with the patina. Here's the base of my Noe before and after.
